Xiang Wan looked at Ali in the distance. "Because Ali wants to stay with both of you for a while, even if it's just for a meal. Some things can't be forgiven, but at least for the sake of the child, we can have a temporary truce."
Han Shuyan glared at her ex-husband. "This damned man deserves to die a thousand times over and it still wouldn't be enough!"
Her ex-husband, who didn't understand, appeared even more cluelessly sincere in his wise eyes. "What does 'deserves to die a thousand times' mean?"
Han Shuyan, annoyed, explained to him in English, then her tone softened a bit. "Let's have a meal together, and after that, you can get lost. Remember, you leave on your own."
After speaking, she turned back to Ali, her face filled with a mix of relief at regaining what was lost and lingering fear.
Ali hung her head low. "Mom, you didn't leave Dad because you stopped loving him, did you? You seem to really hate him."
