Chapter 236: The three effigies

Xander had the easy option of summoning the Elder Lich and turning the odds in his favor, but he wanted to save that card for later since he knew the cultists would be extremely difficult to deal with if they happened to possess more Corrupted Cards.

The Elder Lich was Xander's trump card, and he wanted to hold on to it for as long as possible. So, instead of resorting to extremes, he fell back on the basics. 

"Play card: Destiny's Child!"

Boosting his reflexes, Xander crushed a clay tablet inside his palm and summoned the Dream Cleaver. The sight of the enchanted scythe seemed to agitate the Devourer, as one look at it was enough to cause it to start howling.

Xander gripped the scythe in his right hand and pulled out a second Moondust Grenade from his waist. Locking eyes with the Devourer, he grinned and dashed at the Ethereal like a man possessed.
