Chapter 90: Eclipsed

For the average city-dweller, a solar eclipse was nothing more than a rare natural phenomenon. But for the simple rustic folk living in the countryside, such an event was as an ill omen.

The village of Olarva was so removed from any major human settlement that they knew if something were to go wrong, the cops would take several hours to show up. Xander too was well aware of this fact, which is why spending a night in such a place was the last thing he wanted.

"Do you think it's the work of the cultists?" Leena whispered to Xander as they entered the village.

"I can't be sure, but I have a hunch. They are the only ones who would benefit from the darkness," Xander replied. Taking a good look at the sky, he added, "I don't think this is the work of a single Mystic. Manipulating the moon is no small feat. Not even the most powerful Telemancer has power over cosmic objects."

"Shamura is believed to have power over the moon," Leena replied in a trembling voice.
