Instead, he had been using this time to harness the formidable power within the gemstones.

After a period of dedicated effort, he felt that he had mastered the great power within the gemstones. 

Mystery Protector could also sense that outside the walls of Storm City, the Dark Faction's assault had begun.

Now, he was contemplating whether or not to act according to Darklord's plan.
