Chapter 72: Creation

I collapsed back onto my bed as Luc finished carrying me up the stairs, my mind and body still racked with pain as I closed my eyes against my bed. All the memories and truths that Bellas had forced into my mind had yet to settle and the fallen insisted it would take time. He also instructed me to return to him every night, so he could help me slowly work through them. Tonight, however, I needed to recover.

I barely looked up as I heard Luc's phone start to ring, and the hybrid kept his hand on my back as he answered. It felt so strange to feel the feathers of my wings touch the back of my knees again, and Luc was careful to keep his hand between my wings.

"Azger?" He spoke softly as his hand stroked my back, as if he worried I had fallen asleep. I had to admit, sleep was tempting, but my head was swimming too much. I was afraid to fall asleep. "Yeah we… met Bellas. He set Lin on the path to awakening."
