Chapter 10: CH-10 The Slayer Exam (ARC-1)
Kyo reached the slayer exam only in two days of walking. The map was not too complex to study and the way to final selection had a lot of farms around it so, he was able to ask anyone along the way when he was confused. Kyo was sure if he knew the way to the exam he surely would have reached their in one day only.
Sanemi's training was very hard which resulted in his stamina being developed to a very new level. Kyo had one thing in his mind and that was to challenge the hand demon not kill it but challenge it to test his strength. Kyo thought that he was at least strong enough to match Hinokami Kagura Tanjiro just because of his lineage and his training with Sanemi.
Wind breathing is quite useful it's combination of speed and attack the user can kill normal demons without them even noticing it and if the user is more skilled they can even slay the twelve kizuki not upper moons but lower moons.
Kiyo reached the mountain and immediately saw the large amounts of wisteria flowers around the mountain and on it's top imprisoning the demons inside it that were used to check the skill of want to be demon slayers. Kyo thought that this was very nice way to check their abilities and see how they can cope up and deal with demons.
From what he heard from Sanemi the usual pass rate in the exams was only ten to one percent from the total people who came to give the exam monthly. It was still disadvantageous for Demon slayer corps as the death rate for them was usually high and the members with no breathing style just end up dying rather quickly.
Kyo reached the starting spot on the mountain. When he entered he saw all of the examiners looking at him they had a grim face from what he could see well this is weird Kyo thought to himself. There were at least eighty to ninety people Tanjiro was not here or someone he knows present here to take the exam. Kyo looked at his sword which was on his heath.
Soon, two pair of twins came heir wearing the same dress having the same and also the same expression well they surely look very creepy thought Kyo.
One of them started to speak thanks for attending the exam everyone one. Now I am going to explain you the rule for the test you have one day to reach the top of the mountain without being killed by the demons that are trapped here and hungry for a month. So let us begin.
Well that was surely not a good expression to the students. Kyo had a plan already on his mind wind breathing required some sort acrobatics and speed from the user because which he was now going to put it all in use. The plan was simple he is going to tree hop to the top of the mountain. I am not breaking any rule so, it is surely going to fine thought Kyo.
Tree hoping was not so difficult he continued going at a very fast and a constant speed he was able to even pass few of fellow examiners who started before him. Then, Kyo saw his first demon not just one demon but four of them trying to gang up on one poor slayer. Well this is an amusing sight. Demons will surely not do that until the prey was very superior and kill them.
Kyo thought why not test out my newly learned skills while having a good impression on one of his fellow slayer. Kyo jumped down and got the attention of everyone. The demons were the first to say Wow now we surely can have our bellies full kiddo you though you can be the hero and kill all us this sentence was followed by a rush from two demons.
Kyo grabbed his sword took his stance and then started to say Wind Breathing: First form Dust Whirlwind Cutter after that at a dashing speed Kyo moved forward and cuts down the two charging demons with his sword. The other two demons are shocked not expecting this amount of sheer strength and skills from this slayer and fall back from the slayer who they were pressurising. Stay, away from me you yelled one of them. The other slayer was also shocked seeing Kyo take down two demons in just one move.
Kyo said in his mind well I was not thinking it to be so easy and stuff but like through that hellish training I think anyone can do that like anyone with a breathing style can kill these sort of week demons. Kyo took another stance to kill the retreating demon. Wind Breathing: Second Form Claws-Purifying Wind with a speed even greater than before Kyo moved forward and decapitated both of the demons in a vertical slash.
Kyo looked at the slayer and when he saw no injury or anything he started to move forward without wasting any time. This time he decided to simply run. Kyo thought to himself Where can I find this hand demon where is he? Just at that time a loud yell came from his east followed by the sound of a tree smashing this must be the hand demon. Kyo started to move to that direction quickly. I have enough speed to escape him if things gets wrong why am I even doing this I can just get to the top and it will be over but I need to test my strength! I need to do this common now I am in an anime how can I just miss seeing one of the side character. Not the best of thinking is it thought Kyo.
Kyo reached the place and saw the hand demon holding a heavily injured person by his head, He is not expecting an attack and if I save this guy and take him to the top dead face guy (Ubayashiki) will surely develop a little favour for me and the other Hashiras too. So, let's go!
Kyo attacked Wind Breathing: Fifth form Cloud Mountain Wind. Kyo released several circular slashes from above the hand demon cutting a large chunk out of him resulting in him dropping the demon slayer he was holding. The hand demon was in clear shock and fear he quickly retreated back a little and started to grow back his hands.
Kyo landed on the ground in between of the injured slayer and the hand demon. The hand demon yelled who are you! How dare you attack me you want to die that badly! The hand demon attacked him immediately after wards. Kyo defended himself Wind Breathing: Fourth Form Rising Dust Storm with this attack Kyo quickly cut down all the hands of the Hand demon without any issue the Hand demon retreated again. I am going to be killed by this damn Slayer. Kyo said to himself get away from here demon or I am going to rip you to shreds I am letting you escape only for the sake of completing the slayer exam. Now get out of here. Hand demon not letting his opportunity go away quickly retreated back in the dense mountain Kyo started to put the unconscious and injured person on his back and started to scale the mountain.
He reached the mountain top relatively late carrying this person the day was going to end soon from what he could see there was no other person there. He put the still unconscious and injured examiner down.
Suddenly the two creepy girls appeared and said Congratulations on passing the Exam examiner from hereby you are officially a Demon Slayer of the Demon Slayer corps a guiding crow will be soon assigned to you and from what we have heard you live in Demon Slayer HQ you will get a guide there who will explain everything to you. For now, you just have to choose the ore for your Nichirin swords so please go ahead they started to move sideways and revealed a table on which ten ore were put down.
I can see no difference between them what should I do I did not even think about choosing the ore thing thought Kyo. Kyo started to check each ore and the one he found the most durable he chooses that.
