He sighed, "Beth, I have already told you countless times that the position you hold in my life is different from the one Mia holds. You are both important to me, but Mia is my wife. I stood at the altar and exchanged vows with her."
"Then you can just divorce her, and she is no longer your wife."
He pulled her from his leg, dropping her onto the empty chair next to him. "Divorce is not that easy between married couples. I know that you can't understand, but just try." He held her hand. "You are both important, and I don't want to lose you both."
She was tempted to ask him to pick between them, but she already had a clue of what he would say. She wouldn't do that for herself.
"Okay. As long as I am important to you."
