Chapter 42: In the one

"Have you ever been in love with anyone?" Sheila asked. The room was filled with silence as Declan's eyes darted from one person to another. He had no idea how to answer the question.

He had always thought he was in love with Fiona. He had convinced himself that Fiona was the one for him until he realized he was only comfortable in her presence. When she believed she had broken his heart, he was only relieved to be off her. It was like a needed freedom he had no idea he wanted. He never truly missed her presence in his life.

"Hmm. I will say no," he responded.

"Why?" Mia prompted.

Chris smirked. "I don't believe it's your turn to ask a question, Mia. It's Declan's."

Mia sighed, disappointed. She had wanted to ask him the same question Sheila had, but she was avoiding it, dancing around simple questions. Yet, she could hear what he wanted to ask fully.

"Mia, Truth or Dare?"

She smiled. "Of course, Truth."
