Salem POV
Shortly after we finished our battle with the anomalies it was now time for damage control. The local samurai were assisting in getting people out of the bunkers and also helping rescue people who didn't make it to the bunkers and were casualties. Most were injured and some were dead.
Raiden lent a hand by using her devil slayer magic to help get rid of the sleeping curse the viper queen put on most of the citizens and Kagura used her gravity magic to move the rubble to help the samurai get more people medical assistance. I did also lend a hand a little when I was semi-healed and my magic was enough to conjure my Ankylosaurs and basically use it to earth bend the rubble to help some trapped people. Morrigan left for a little bit because she said she felt something off within the city.
Now Morrigan, Kagura and I were just sitting on some rubble by the remains of a sidewalk. I had a bandage around my forehead, a little on my gut area, Morrigan mostly had bandages around her arm but not much. Meanwhile Raiden and Kagura were completely fine.
"So what are you going to do with the axe?" I asked Morrigan.
"Kid, that axe was beautifully crafted and has gold on it. I'm going to keep it as an accessory and maybe sell it for a good amount." She grinned and brought out the axe twirling it a bit.
"You know Marella-sama did tell me that you were something of a scavenger Morrigan-san." Kagura commented and Morrigan gasped dramatically.
"S-Scavenger how dare she call me that I'm more of a treasure hunter not a scavenger!" She exclaimed.
"For a treasure hunter I don't really see you do a lot of that." I put my thoughts in.
"Well like you said we're not around each other 365 so you don't know what I do on the side~." She stuck her tongue out.
"Ack whatever." I clicked my tongue but then noticed Raiden talking to a man who was bald, had dark eyes and was wearing a grey kimono.
The man was bowing down rapidly saying 'thank you' over and over again. Raiden just calmed him down a little and the two began walking over to us.
"Morrigan-san Shupiwe-san Mikazuchi-san. This is the mayor of this town." Raiden introduced him.
"Hello sir." Kagura politely bowed.
"Sup." Morrigan waved.
"Hey nice to meet you." I waved at him as well.
"It's nice to meet all and thank you all for helping save my town!" He bowed at us from a ninety degree angle.
"It's no trouble really, just happy to help." Kagura told the mayor.
"No really if it wasn't for all of you my town would have been more damaged or completely destroyed before the imperial army or any guilds answered the call. Even more lives would have been lost and I doubt that bunkers would have been enough."
"Yeah those monsters would have really levelled the place more if we didn't show up." Morrigan bluntly pointed out.
"Speaking of which, why aren't the imperial army or any guilds here? I get they would have received the emergency call late but they would have been here for damage control, right?" I asked.
"I don't know what's going on. I would have thought someone would have been here by now." The mayor answered.
"Maybe someone made sure that your distress call didn't reach anyone." Raiden Suggested.
"Wait, you think so?"
"Harumi does have a point there were talismans as she put it, on the creature and seemed to be in control of them so maybe the one controlling them could be the one who interfered in your emergency signal as I felt something strange a few moments ago." Morrigan put her thoughts.
"But why? Is there something of extreme value that they wanted to gain from here?" Kagura asked.
"No oak town is known as a good tourist spot but there's nothing big here for someone to go out of their way to these extremes to gain except the oak trees themselves." Raiden denied.
"Could they have been after the rich medical minerals of the oaks?" The mayor asked.
"I doubt it otherwise they wouldn't actually use the monsters for unnecessary destruction."
"Maybe they were just testing the monster's power." I spoke and they all looked at me for a continuation. "I mean if this or these guys had control of the monsters through the monsters and didn't hold these town hostages for their resources, labour or other things then they must have been testing out their new pet's strength then." I remembered back at Bellum.
But those dark guild members were using the village for finance, food and probably pleasure. This village didn't seem to have any sort of trouble since Raiden seemed to have influence here so I can only guess that they were just testing the anomalies.
"But to the point of destroying a town and killing everyone. It reminds of the cult of Zeref" Kagura shook her head in disgust.
"I don't think they were going to go all out and destroy the town due the fact I think that talisman as you called it had some additional properties."
"But still who would go this far for a little test it reminds me of the followers of Zeref."
"Well, all that matters is that now the town is saved and please there is anything I can do to reward you three." The mayor offered and Morrigan and I looked at each other a little giddy.
"Including money~." We both said.
"You two Raiden-san said she would personally handle our payments. We don't need any payment from the town when they need it for repairs." Kagura nagged.
"The man offered us the reward so it will be impolite for us to deny such a gracious offer right junior~?" Morrigan put her hand on my head.
"Yep~." I nodded.
"Just let them be Kagura-san. I might not know Shipiwe-san well but I have worked with Morrigan-san from time to time and she won't pass up this chance for extra." Raiden shook her head at us and Kagura just sighed in frustration. "By the way, you should contact the imperial army again and notify them of the situation."
"Understood." Kenjiro nodded.
Later at Raiden's residence
We returned to Raiden's castle after we were done and the mayor gave Morrigan and I some money for our services but Kagura refused hers. Now we were just eating the food whenever we got a chance to eat in the early morning, which was really well reserved and still hot.
It was only around 10-11 am so I didn't mind the late breakfast.
Currently Morrigan and I were in town called shiunboku looking near Raiden's castle as Morrigan wanted to get some Saki. Kagura wanted to talk Raiden about something. The town was really beautiful especially with the purple trees which have been planted everywhere giving the place an extra comfy vibe. I feel like oak town would have been similar if it hadn't been attacked but bigger.
"Alright Junior Harumi told me about a great place to get some Saki and so do you want to still shadow me around." Morrigan offered.
"So, we can do that thing where I transform into a cat or rabbit and add to your sex appeal for a decrease in price, no thanks." I denied.
"Oh, please like I need you to transform into your cute animal forms to increase my sex appeal. I mean look at me." She said as strikes a sexy pose which got the lustful attention of men.
"Argh whatever old lady don't get too hammered." I told her as I walked away.
I walked around town and tried to find something interesting to do and I found a magic shop and decided to check it out. When I entered, I saw it had some gale reading glasses, some scrolls which are substitutes for the typical magic books, some samurai armors, some katanas, kunai, throwing stars and so much more.
"So, freaking cool!" I gushed not at the magic items I was seeing but the ninja tools I was looking at. And ran to the counter which had a man around his twenties.
"Oh, how can I help you, young mage?" He asked.
"I want the ninja stuff!" I said excitedly.
"I'm sorry young man, I can't sell these dangerous items to a minor like you." He said and felt my heartbreak a little.
"Seriously man." I whined as my pretend ninja dream was slowly being ripped away.
"I'm sorry young man but if like I said I can't sell these dangerous weapons to children as you might end up hurting yourself or someone else." He shook his head. "How about I sell you something less dangerous like this." He took out a fox mask. "It lets you change the colour of your clothes or this fox mask."
"Oh, come on man. I'm responsible, I promise , just give me one katana and some throwing stars. I'm a responsible wizard, I promise." I begged.
"Sorry but I still don't think…"
"Come one pwease." I begged while making myself have big cat eyes and doing the puss in boots cute eyes thing. The man was struggling not to give in but I could tell he was fighting a losing battle.
"F-Fine but nothing too dangerous okay." He gave in.
"Sweet." I said in victory.
After a good number of minutes, I came out of the store with a Wakizashi, some throwing stars, and the fox mask much to my glee. I only got regular ones as some weapons had elemental magic within them so there were elemental Katanas, Shuriken, Kunai and much more. I had me thinking of getting weapons to go with some of my transformations.
'Too bad my requip doesn't specialise in the Knight.' I thought a little disheartened.
As I walked to the streets to find something else to do, I felt dread all over my body and every instinct in my body told me to run away. I than jumped on pure instinct with sweat pouring from my forehead and gritted my teeth. The source of my dread was a beautiful buxom woman with long blonde, red eyes. She wore a white flower pattern Kimono with fur coat aesthetic and a hoodie. She was hot yes but my instincts told me that she could flick her fingers and I would probably be dead putting more on edge.
"Oh, was that you sensing my magic or was that just pure instinct~?" She spoke amusedly.
"W-Who are you?" I asked as I was really on edge and subconsciously thought of ways to get the fuck out of here.
"Ara~ Ara~. Relax boy I won't hurt you unless you give me a reason to~." She smirked both sexily and dangerously which was a bad combination. Her eyes narrowed a bit and her smirk grew wider. "You're an even more interesting up-close boy. How about we take this someplace more private~."
"I don't think so, you damn cougar." Morrigan appeared out of nowhere and we sank into the ground, then we were on the roof of a building but the woman teleported there, making Morrigan click her tongue in annoyance.
"Hm, shadow travels as expected from the daughter of Hecate."
"So you're the one you spied on us. How do you know that name and who are you?" Morrigan demanded answers.
"Guilty as charged~. And you should be wise on how you speak to me, daughter of Hecate." She
"Again, who are you?"
"Oh, I guess your dear mother didn't say much about me, what a shame but I guess I'll introduce myself. My name Selene~." She said and I saw Morrigan's eyes widen and so did I. I remembered that Morpheus said that a person named Selene was one of the top people in this world.
"It can't be I've heard about you that old witch mentioned you from time to time you're one of the dragon gods. But you're not supposed to be here. I thought all you dragon gods reside in the northern Gultina continent?" Morrigan may have looked calm but like me I could tell she was on edge and eyes darted around a little, seemingly having multiple escape plans in her head.
"Glad you finally caught on to the gravity of the situation little girl. And I was just here to collect some good Saki and meet my new source of entertainment~." She smirked and winked at me. "Impressive fight by the way boy even though you're still pathetically weak and so was that otherworldly creature it was still a good show especially when I saw you had a dragon's soul~."
"Wait, you were the one who sent the Tsukuyomi!?" I asked.
"Oh, so that's what it was called and yes I was one who teleported the creature to the town."
"But why would you do that? It could have caused a lot more damage and killed a good amount of people. Wait, how do you really know about it?"
"I was bored and I needed some entertainment which you didn't disappoint, especially with your little dragon transformation. And as for how I knew well that's for me to know and you to find out. I should leave before THEY find out I've been snooping here. Farwell daughter of darkness and my little enigma." She disappeared with spatial magic.
"She's a spatial dragon god?" I asked my mentor.
"No, she's the dragon god of the moon." Morrigan sighed in frustration then looked at me. "So, these monsters which you hunt down come from other dimensions huh. Looks like you have been holding out on me Junior." She spoke and it was my turn to sigh in frustration.
