Chapter 29: VACATION WITH MR HADEN

VACATION WITH MR HADEN

Lily would rather kill him before going to a foreign country with him. He wanted to protest.

"Jack my son," his mother switched her voice to a soft appealing voice, "I want to see her at least I can see the girl who managed to take my son's heart and made it her own. You even held hands with her."

He wanted to shout and tell her, that my relationship with her was fake and that me holding her hand was to usher her to the car to get her away from the crazy paparazzi. But he withheld himself, his mother was obviously in a fantasy world.

"Before you know wedding bells," she continued, not caring if her son was uncomfortable with the ongoing conversation.

Lily and I, wedding bells! He gargled, he could not imagine the both of them living together as husband and wife, he shivered in dismay at the thought.

Can you bring her over for a couple of days? I want to have some girl's time with her, his mother said excitedly as if she couldn't wait to meet her.

Jack couldn't afford to say no to his mother, she was the only living woman in his life whom he had a soft spot for beside she needed something to occupy her mind.

Fine! I will talk to her to let her know, he groggily answered his mom;

he ended the call with his mom, he was happy that she was okay but he was not happy that he was going to spend time with Lily more than necessary.

He reached for his phone, and dialed her number; he got tensed and dropped his phone calmly on the table.

His heart was pounding against his rib cage, he was feeling antsy. He placed his hands over his heart in an attempt to calm himself, You can do this Jack, she is working for you. Just call her, no big deal. He pep-talked to himself.

He reached again for his phone and placed a call to Lily.

Her phone rang for a while before she could answer, his heart was still pounding even faster than before.

"Lily, we are launching a new product very soon and as the sales marketer, we need you to step up on your game, you have been sluggish lately and your performance nowadays is quite bad," Her boss spoke, her voice bold and strong.

A woman in her early fifties, dark and huge. Her hair was packed in an afro style, her grey suit was spotless and free from wrinkles. A tortoise-shaped glass perched on her nose as she stared at Lily unblinkingly.

Lily nodded her head in affirmation, "I am sorry ma, I will do my best."

Seating on a black leather chair in her boss's office, wearing a white shirt and pink pants, with a pink jacket over her white shirt. She was looking smart and very professional. She was having a meeting with the overall head of the company and it made her feel a little stuffy, her boss was huge and it was very intimidating to be in her presence, she wanted the meeting to be over

Lily was very busy at work, so she couldn't answer fast to the call. After the meeting, She went back to her own office, sat on her chair, and exhaled. The meeting with her boss was exhausting.

She turned on her phone and saw Jack's call, she rolled her eyes. Not again! she thought.

"Jack, good afternoon. How may I help you? She said coolly.

Jack was relieved and happy that she picked up his call, "Lily, are you ready to go for a vacation?" he said suddenly.
