Chapter 42: Public Display Of Affection

Tears started to form the moment he spoke as she looked at him with an aggrieved face.

"Do you need to be so cold to me? I am your only kin." His eyes turned colder as the words came out, but she did not notice the difference.

I will give her a chance if you really like her. It is already evening. How about we have dinner together?"

She waited patiently when he checked her face as if he was trying to trust her words. He eventually nodded when she kept looking at him with a hurt look.

"Great! It had been ages since we last had a meal together." She clapped her hands and called a few maids to prepare the meal.

Her eyes twinkled with joy as she left the room with the pretense of preparing for dinner.

"I hope there will be no mistake." she warned the maid who shuddered but nodded her head.

"Then get on and call that! We will not wait."

The maid left quickly when she smirked at the mirror.
