Good Junior Brother
"Huh?" Lin Fan's jaw dropped.
"Huh??" The crowd was stunned.
"Huh???" The teacup in Wang Chun's hands fell to the ground, shattering instantly.
The core elders all looked quite surprised by Jiang Ting's abrupt forfeiture.
"Hahahahaha, Wang Chun, your disciple really shows the fierceness of a tiger." The village chief laughed heartily, making Wang Chun blush with embarrassment.
All the core elders burst into laughter as well.
"Huh? Shut it, old man, he just saw an impossible battle and made a strategic retreat so that the other disciple wouldn't be needlessly tired going into his next fight. It's the great generosity and magnanimity my disciple has inherited from me, that's all. Sitting near him, Chen Mei couldn't help but blush from the second-hand embarrassment.
'Senior brother really has developed some really thick skin, huh.'
"Hahaha, Wang Chun, oh Wang Chun, you shameless fellow, to think you could even spin it like that, really impressive." The village chief's laughs kept growing louder and louder.
"Shan Jian, you..." Wang Chun's face grew beet red with shame.

As the battles went on, Jiang Ting went to the hospital to take a look at Xuan Li with Lin Fan. With his knowledge from the past, he knew the importance of building a loyal following, and training them up. He had already decided to take in Lin Fan, as for how much value he placed in him, that would depend on Lin Fan's performance in the future. If he proved his loyalty and showed sufficient talent, he didn't mind taking Lin Fan out to see the world beyond Fudi.
As he was thinking of this, they reached the room where Xuan Li was being treated. The nurse reminded them before they entered, "She's still unconscious, we've sedated her heavily so that she can sleep through the most painful part of her recovery."
Lin Fan looked concerned, "Nurse, how long till she recovers?"
The nurse placed a hand on Lin Fan's shoulder, "Don't worry about her too much, with the abilities of the healers here, ordinary injuries such as your friend's broken bones can be healed very quickly. Between the first aid given by the competent medics, and the powerful healing arts used by elder Jiao, your friend's bones should mend by tomorrow, and she should be ready to resume her training in a week or so." The nurse walked away after saying this.
"Thank you, nurse." Lin Fan breathed a sigh of relief.
Jiang Ting opened the door to Xuan Li's room, leading the way as they walked in.
Xuan Li lay on the bed, sleeping, as her arms were in a cast. The two of them stayed there for a while, giving her company before leaving. She was unconscious and in good hands, so there was no need to worry about Xuan Li. Meanwhile, Jiang Ting couldn't afford to miss his senior brother's match.
As they were returning, they ran into Zhao Song standing alone near an arena.
"Senior brother, are you all by yourself? What happened to senior sister Sun Mei?" Jiang Ting asked out of curiosity.
"It's her match now, Zhao Song said without turning around, his gaze glued to the stage.
"Ah, I see. Who's her opponent?" Jiang Ting asked before turning to look at the stage. He froze.
Standing on the stage were two women. Both were quite beautiful, but the woman with the hazelnut-colored doe like eyes overshadowed her opponent in terms of beauty.
Suddenly, a voice shouted out amidst the already frenzied crowd of men, "Best of luck, senior sister Yan!!!"
Feeling some similarity, Yan Ping took her gaze off of Sun Mei, turning to look at the crowd, where Jiang Ting was flashing a wide grin at her.
Yan Ping was surprised, before revealing a gentle smile. "So you came to see my match after all, junior brother."
The crowd was stunned. The men couldn't help but gasp, feeling their hearts stop at the sight of Yan Ping's smile. As expected of the village's most beautiful woman. Then they turned to look at the direction she was staring, resting their gazes on Jiang Ting.
Jiang Ting felt a shiver down his spine as he suddenly felt killing intent from a hundred people focus on him. He looked back to Yan Ping, raised his head, and spoke proudly, "Of course I came, I promised you after all."
Hearing this, Yan Ping grinned as she turned her head away.
Zhao Song couldn't help but stare at Jiang Ting.
'Sun Mei is right there, having given me company all day, even encouraging you, but you want to cheer for the opponent. What a good junior brother!'
Feeling Zhao Song's gaze, he looked back at him, feigning ignorance, "Is something the matter, senior brother?"
"Sun Mei is my friend now, why are you cheering the other girl?"
Jiang Ting looked at him in surprise, "So even you aren't that dense after all, huh. Keep at it, senior brother, and us brothers can marry the two on the stage sooner or later."
Zhao Song's jaw dropped. His face grew red from all the embarrassment. "What are you talking about? Marry? Marry who? Shameless."
He couldn't help but think back to the time Sun Mei was just following him around. 'No...no way, right? No way she likes me?' Seeing the incredibly rusty wheels turning very slowly in Zhao Song's head, Jiang Ting let him be.
"Brother Jiang. "Lin Fan called out in an impressed voice. "Nicely done." He gave Jiang Ting a thumbs up.
"Obviously it was nicely done. When have I done things in anything less than s=a spectacular manner."
Lin Fan nodded, impressed. 'This brother sure is a god. I must enlist his help in courting Xuan Li, for sure.'
Jiang Ting, feeling pleased with himself, stared at Yan Ping. 'Now, mysterious senior sister, will you give me a surprise today?'
Meanwhile, in a corner of the crowd, a certain figure turned his head away from Jiang Ting's direction, having watched him for a long time.
