Breakfast was an awkward event for everyone involved. After a night's worth of rest, Prince Nathaniel seemed to be more in control of his emotions. He was effortlessly polite, easily winning over the household staff with his graces.
However, he did not speak much to Daphne. A dark cloud seemed to follow Prince Nathaniel wherever he went and he looked lackluster and devoid of energy. Even his smiles of greeting seemed half-hearted. He merely greeted her a simple good morning, and then continued to help himself to his breakfast while his men shot her barely concealed looks of hostility.
If not for Prince Nathaniel and Atticus's warning glances, Daphne might have found herself at the end of a fist!
Yet she couldn't fault them entirely for it.
