"Your Highness, you shouldn't enter now," Maisie cautioned Atticus with quick shakes of her head. "Queen Daphne said no one was to disturb her thinking process."
"I'm sure exceptions can be made for her beloved husband," Atticus said dryly, but Maisie refused to budge, giving him a disappointed look.
"She especially said she didn't want to see you because…" Maisie took out a piece of parchment and cleared her throat, reading it out in a tremulous voice, "My husband clearly wants to spend time with other women instead of me! Well Atticus, you can go and flirt with anyone you want. I have work to do."
Atticus quickly grabbed the note from Maisie's hand and scrutinized it carefully. True enough, it was his wife's penmanship. His eyes lit up when he caught sight of a particular phrase, and he promptly shoved Maisie and her objections out of the way.
"Your Highness! You shouldn't―"
