Despite Atticus's wishes for Daphne to have a good rest, the latter found herself plagued by her imagination as she slept. Eugene's true character, Maisie going missing, Atticus's behavior… Daphne's mind helpfully conjured all sorts of terrible scenarios that left her unable to truly sleep.
Daphne could only stare blearily at the ceiling, feeling more exhausted than before.
When the first rays of sunlight finally streamed through her window, she decided enough was enough.
She couldn't wallow in her guilt, not when she could actually do something that made a difference. Maisie should have been the one to help her get ready, but…
Daphne took a deep breath and began to prepare herself for the day. She dressed herself and combed her hair, finally putting on the earrings that Atticus had given her.
She would get Maisie back, no matter what it took.
