Chapter 130: The Escaped Vagrant

[KAWAI]

No one had heard from Tamiko or even the Lycan Chief in the past four weeks and the king was beginning to get worried. The son he hadn't entered to release had disappeared without a trace.

You would think that someone got to him. The king could feel his son's magic and with just a blink he could see where he was at, but Zaffuto couldn't do that. He didn't want to create a rift between him and his son.

His worries were valid though because no one had even gotten a hint of my Lycan chief. That was something that shouldn't have happened.

"Did the scouts we sent find them?" King Zaffuto asked his brother for the hundredth time. He had been thinking, trying to be patient like any father would, but Zaffuto was not a patient man. Not when it came to his Kaito Hinata.

He refused to hold back because the kid in question was his only heir, a kid that everyone had seen how war he had acted around. Anyone with eyes had to have seen that Tamiko was the king's favorite at the mating ball so there would be suspicions.

The king expected that, but none of that was valid enough for the king to start being worried for his son. He needed answers and this was the end of the fourth week. So, if he didn't find anything useful, he would go to Grealor himself and find answers.

"They noticed and shook them off in the first week. Other than this, no one has seen them. Not even the bounty hunters have seen Chief Konstantin. Tamiko is a dead end, and it's all getting too complicated," Lord Sadako said to his brother who wasn't liking the answers one bit.

One month was a long time.

Zaffuto was ready to compromise on everything except for the safety of his dear son. He refused to be the one who lost one too many times. He had lost Tamiko once and he refused to lose him again.

This was not a bargain for him and he wasn't striking himself into one. Not this time.

"Well then, looks like you'll have to take care of Kawai again, brother. I need to find my child," King Zaffuto said and Lord Sadako looked at the mad king. For a moment there, King Zaffuto thought that Sadako would try to discourage him.

It was expected given the way it was irrational, however, Sadako just nodded in understanding, almost like he wanted to be the block between his friend and his nephew.

He loved Tamiko too and if this was a sign that the id was in danger then there was no hunter that was way better than the dark king himself. He would find his Tamiko and bring him back, regardless of what happened along the way.

"Go, I'll take care of everything here," Sadako said earnestly.

"Do I need anything along the way?" King Zaffuto asked as he looked at Sadako. He was hoping for something else, but even he didn't know how else to tell his brother what to expect from the mess that had long been created.

"Nothing, just be your usual charming self and everything will be fine," Lord Sadako said even though he knew Zaffuto's charming self, meant a lot of destruction and blood piling, not to mention civilizations brought to the ground.

But then again, this was about the son who would do everything, so the king was right to desire more than anyone would ever be able to give to him.

"Duly noted. If you miss me, I'm just mind link away," King Zaffuto teased and Lord Sadako glared at him, even though the Lycan lord was already worried about his brother. It had been twenty-five whole years since Zaffuto had left Kawai to go anywhere.

The man had not interacted with a lot of people for a while now and if Sadako was being honest with himself, he wasn't sure if there was a better way to release the dark King out there.

He needed to be reminded of what humanity meant, or maybe he didn't need to after all. But then what else was she supposed to do when the son he wanted was gone like the wind, right?

"I know… Now get going. No matter what happens, do not make it rain, Zaffuto Hinata. Don't you dare make it rain," Sadako warned and the Lycan king gulped thickly as he looked at his brother who was dead serious.

He knew Sadako hated rain because when the queen passed on, Kawai had had endless rains for five long years. Life had been unbearable then with the floods all over. They all had magic but none of their magic was as strong as the mad king's magic.

So, they had remained stuck in the possibility of what could be the end of Kawai. Thankfully their king wasn't as cruel or perhaps it was because he wasn't even aware of what was going on in his home.

"I will not. I know how much you suffered last time. I wouldn't do that to you twice," King Zaffuto said calmly and Sadako stared at his brother in understanding.

"Alright then. I bet I'll see you later. Be well, brother. And bring our boys back home," Lord Sadako said to the king who just hugged him and gave him a thumbs up as he headed out.

"First time leaving Kawai, gotta be really good for this, son," King Zaffuto said to himself as he walked out of the palace and the road to the northern border of Kawai. He was walking instead of just commandeering a horse to get him where he needed to go.

The Lycan were looking at their king, the surprise on their faces so clear as they tried to make sense of what he was doing or even where he was headed. He had nothing on him save for the clothes on his body, he had no gear, no nothing.

Granted, he was an immortal psycho king with anger issues and a desire to get to his own, but he still should have tried to be careful. But then King Zaffuto was the kind of darkness that even the darkness was scared of. So, he would be okay.

The only thing that was on the king's mind at the moment was his son, the boy he had sworn to protect. He knew there was a chance that Tamiko would send him away for the attention he came with, but Zaffuto was just a father.

Defeatedly, as the king crossed the Kawai borders he transformed into something that he would have despised had he not known his son was alive and wanted to find his dear Hinata.

A peasant rogue wolf.

"Where are you headed, brother," someone spoke, interrupting the mad king's voyage into nowhere.

"Be on your way. You have no business with me," Zaffuto said.

"You're awfully rude for a mere werewolf rogue," one of them said as he pulled off the king's hoodie, only to realize who the man was.

Zaffuto didn't bother with their sudden change in attitude because he simply blasted them with his magic and turned them into ashes, before creating a whirlwind that spread their ashes in the air.

Well, they fucked around with a vagrant, it was only right that they found out, yeah?
