Chapter 77: Chapter 77 – The Difference Between Gods and Transcendents

As Dave prepared for his journey to the hidden temple of Zephron, one question continued to gnaw at him. He had heard about Transcendents from the system and during his fight with Lukan, but there was still something unclear. Were Transcendents on the same level as gods? And if not, how far apart were they?

Dave sat down in a quiet corner, his mind racing with possibilities. He decided it was time to get some answers.

"System," Dave called out, his voice calm but firm, "is a Transcendent the same as a god or demi-god? Are they on the same level?"

The system responded quickly, its tone neutral but informative. "No, Transcendence is not the same as godhood. While powerful, Transcendents are far below the tier of a god. The path to godhood is much longer and more complex than the Transcendent stage. Let me explain the differences."

Dave frowned, trying to piece together the information. "Then what exactly is the difference between a Transcendent and a god or demi-god?"

The system paused for a moment before continuing its explanation.

"A Transcendent is someone who has surpassed the mortal limits of power, rising beyond Rank SSS into a higher state of being. Transcendents have extraordinary abilities, often controlling time, space, or reality to some degree, but they are still bound by certain rules of existence. A Transcendent is a powerful being, but they do not have the true omnipotence or immortality that defines a god."

Dave leaned forward, intrigued. "Okay, so what about demi-gods? Are they just below gods, or are they closer to Transcendents?"

"Demi-gods," the system clarified, "are a tier below gods, but they are more powerful than Transcendents. Demi-gods are beings who have reached a level where they possess god-like qualities, but they are not fully divine. They can tap into the powers of creation and destruction on a much larger scale than a Transcendent, but they lack the full scope of a true god's power. Demi-gods are on the path to godhood but have not yet achieved the final transformation."

Dave nodded, trying to process the vast hierarchy being laid out before him. "And gods? Where do they fit in?"

"Gods," the system continued, "are far beyond either Transcendents or demi-gods. A god possesses absolute control over their domain, often ruling over vast realms and even entire universes. They can bend reality to their will without limitation and are not subject to the rules that govern lesser beings. True gods are immortal in the truest sense—unchallenged, unmatched, and virtually invulnerable to anything that exists in the mortal world. While a Transcendent might have power over time or space, a god can rewrite the very fabric of reality itself."

Dave's eyes widened at the scope of what he was hearing. "So, gods can't be compared to anything below them. They're on a completely different level?"

"Precisely," the system confirmed. "A god's power is absolute, while a Transcendent, though formidable, still exists within a structure of limitations. While it is possible to challenge a Transcendent, to face a god directly would require something far beyond what you currently possess. It would be akin to an ant trying to fight a hurricane."

Dave exhaled slowly, feeling both awe and trepidation. "So, if I ever want to reach that level... I'd need to become a demi-god first, and only after that could I even consider becoming a god?"

"Correct. The journey from Transcendence to demi-godhood is extraordinarily difficult and rare. Many who reach the Transcendent stage never progress beyond it. To become a demi-god, you would need to accomplish feats far beyond mortal comprehension and acquire divine essence or favor from higher entities."

Dave stood up, shaking off the weight of the information. It seemed there was a whole new level of existence waiting beyond Transcendence, but he wasn't anywhere near that stage yet. For now, his focus needed to stay on his immediate goal—surviving the Trials, finding the relics, and growing stronger.

"Thanks for the explanation," Dave said, steeling his resolve. "I guess I should focus on finding that relic in Zephron's temple first."

"That would be wise," the system agreed. "The first relic you seek is only the beginning of your journey. But remember, with each step, you grow closer to understanding the greater forces that shape this world. Stay vigilant, and be prepared for what lies ahead."

Dave nodded, pulling up the map of Althoria that the system had displayed earlier. The temple of Zephron was deep in the mountains, in an area few had explored. It would be a dangerous trek, but nothing he couldn't handle.

With a deep breath, he stepped out of the POD and prepared for his journey. The path to the hidden temple would not be easy, but he was determined to push forward. After all, he needed the relic to stand a chance against the Transcendents, and every victory brought him closer to understanding the true power of the universe.

As he left the training room, his mind raced with thoughts of gods, demi-gods, and the unfathomable gap between them and his current self. It seemed the more he learned, the larger the universe became, and the more dangerous it appeared. But one thing was clear—if he wanted to survive and protect his family, he had to keep growing stronger. No matter the cost.
