Chapter 54: Chapter 54: Emily’s Growth and Dave's First Hunt

Emily stood inside the training pod, her hands glowing faintly with a soft green light. Her eyes were shut in deep concentration as she focused on channeling her healing powers. The AI's voice echoed in the chamber, guiding her every move.

"Concentrate, Emily. Focus on the energy within you and project it outward. You need to maintain control while increasing the power."

Sweat trickled down Emily's forehead as she extended her hands forward, directing her healing energy toward the target in front of her. A small robotic dummy stood before her, its synthetic skin covered in deep simulated wounds. The light from her hands began to intensify, enveloping the dummy. Slowly, the wounds started to close, the gashes mending themselves with precision.

Emily sighed with relief as the AI's voice confirmed her progress.

"Target successfully healed. Stat increase: +2."

She smiled weakly, feeling the slight surge of strength coursing through her. It wasn't much, but it was progress. Each session pushed her further, enhancing both her control and her abilities. Ever since her powers manifested, Emily had been determined to master them, not just for herself but for her family. She didn't want to feel helpless ever again—not after what had happened.

The AI continued its guidance. "You are advancing well, but your stamina and energy reserves need further development. The next challenge will require you to maintain a sustained healing output for 10 consecutive minutes. Prepare yourself."

Emily clenched her fists, breathing deeply. The AI was right—she still had a long way to go. But she wouldn't stop. Not until she could fully control her powers and be strong enough to protect her loved ones.

Meanwhile, Dave was preparing for something far more dangerous.

---

In the dead of night, Dave materialized in a remote location, somewhere deep in the heart of a foreign country. The air was cold, and a thin fog rolled through the quiet streets. His smartwatch displayed a map with several red dots scattered across the screen. Each dot represented a superhuman—individuals with unique powers who had, over time, used their abilities to oppress, manipulate, and destroy.

He had come for them.

The list he acquired from the system had led him here, to the first country on his long and bloody path. There were 32 superhumans in this country, each ranked from C to A. None of them posed a threat to him. None of them were like Helios or Bolt.

"This should be easy," Dave muttered to himself as he scanned the data. The system had ranked them based on their abilities and potential danger. Most were involved in criminal organizations, using their powers for personal gain and terrorizing innocent people.

Dave's eyes flickered with cold determination. His mind flashed back to Sarah's lifeless body and Emily's tears. He remembered Helios's smug face, the arrogance of the superhumans who believed they were untouchable. That would end tonight.

His first target was close by—a B-ranked superhuman named Korvan. According to the intel, Korvan had the ability to manipulate fire, often using it to torch entire villages when his demands weren't met. Dave knew the kind of destruction someone like that could cause, and he wasn't going to let him live another day.

In an instant, Dave teleported to Korvan's location. The man was lounging in a large mansion, surrounded by luxury and wealth he had no doubt stolen. Flames flickered lazily around his fingers as he sat in a massive leather chair, seemingly bored with the world around him.

Dave didn't give him a chance to react.

Before Korvan could even register his presence, Dave was on him. With a single punch, he sent the man crashing through the wall, flames sputtering out as his body flew across the room. The force of the blow was enough to break several bones, leaving Korvan sprawled on the ground, gasping for air.

"You... who are you?" Korvan croaked, his voice weak as he tried to summon his powers. But it was too late. Dave was already standing over him, his expression cold and merciless.

"I'm your end," Dave said flatly.

He raised his hand, and in one swift motion, ended Korvan's life with a precise, lethal strike. There was no hesitation, no second-guessing. These people were monsters, and Dave had no qualms about eliminating them.

One down. Thirty-one to go.

---

Dave moved swiftly from one target to the next, his teleportation ability allowing him to strike without warning. One by one, the superhumans fell. Some tried to fight back, summoning their powers in a futile attempt to stop him, but none of them were a match for Dave's speed, strength, and ruthless determination. He dispatched each one with brutal efficiency, leaving no survivors. By the time the night was over, the streets were littered with the bodies of those who had once considered themselves invincible.

As Dave stood over the last of his targets, his body barely showing any signs of exertion, he checked his smartwatch again. Every dot on the map had vanished. The country was now free of superhumans—at least, for the time being.

Dave wiped the blood from his hands, feeling nothing but cold satisfaction. He was just getting started.

"This will be easy," he said again, his voice barely a whisper.

And with that, he vanished, already planning his next move.
