"You have been very quiet since we left the palace," Max said as the sound of the carriage clattered along the cobblestone streets, interrupting the stillness. The night air carried a cool hush, accompanying her rather chaotic thoughts.

Eve looked at him, then turned to the carriage windows next to him. Beyond the windows, the lights from the streets painted a soft glow, showing her glimpses of the still bustling streets outside.

"Do you think the Demon Emperor could easily wipe out the humans if he wanted to?" she could not help but ask.

He pursed his lips before he said, "Yes." There was not a hint of hesitation in his voice. "The Demon Emperor has lived for thousands of years. He is a powerful character older than the dragons themselves. If he truly wanted to wipe out the humans, he would have done so a long time ago."

She turned her head away. Until now, the Queen's words about the Demon Emperor still echoed in the depths of her soul.
