"What are you doing?" Eve asked, her voice laced with a mix of irritation and nervousness. Her eyes narrowed as she glanced at the man sitting beside her in the carriage, the rattling sound of wheels against the cobbled streets failing to drown out the rapid beating of her heart.

It was one thing to see him from a distance, but being in such close proximity felt entirely different.

"Staring at you," he shamelessly responded, his voice tinged with a hint of amusement.

A blush crept up Eve's cheeks, and she quickly turned her head away, diverting her gaze to the passing scenery outside the carriage window.
