"What? You're saying someone has taken over the second and third floors, and won't let you go up?"

At the cash register, the supermarket manager listened to the chosen ones' complaints with a slight frown. 

This means someone has become powerful enough to dominate others, able to occupy two floors for a direct sweep. This isn't unheard of, but it's not good news for him. 

If the chosen ones are too strong, they could kill the hunters.
