Chapter 104: Chapter 104 His Hate

Grace’s POV

I slowly opened my eyes and realized that I was lying in the backseat of a car. A blanket was tossed over my body and very carefully tucked around me. My head pounded like someone was using it for a punching bag and my gut was roiling like I’d been at sea for 8 months straight.

Movement caught my eye and despite my aching head’s protests, I glanced up to see Trevor glance at me nervously.

“You’re awake,” he said and sighed in relief.

I’d been asleep?

As I realized that I had, hope bloomed inside of me, a single flower in a bush of thorns.

“Was it---?” I asked, my voice hoarse from crying. “Was it just a dream?”

Silence filled the car for a moment, as Trevor let out a heavy sigh. He didn’t say it – not at first. But his body language betrayed him…

“I’m afraid not,” he said softly, casting me a sympathetic glance in the review mirror. “I’m so sorry.”
