"Oh mum!" I hug her hard.
I know she shot me.
I don't condone her for what she did.
But she is still my mother.
I don't have a father; I thought I lost my mother as well.
Now that she is on the right side, and isn't being beaten black and blue, we are able to work on healing our relationship.
Nobody can judge me for making a relationship with my mum until they thought they lost their parents!
"Time for traditions." My mother calls in a happy sing song voice.
"Something old!" Mum says, showing me a gorgeous rose flower hair grip that she had worn on her wedding, as did my grandmother, "and something borrowed."
Once the grip is securely in my hair, Shona takes a step towards me, "something new" she declares and shows me a gorgeous rise quartz stone bracelet which she clipped on my wrist.
"And something blue." Jessica announces, and holds up a sapphire wolf pendant necklace with a white gold chain.
I am in awe at the beauty and sentimental value of these items.
