Chapter 17: To the Capital

ALANA POV

The mafia cleaning staff had just finished steaming the bed when I turned around to look at it while I was putting away all of my items. I could not believe the level of care and attention to detail that had been put into the cleaning. The sheets are ironed to a perfect crispness, and there is not even a smudge on the bed; everything is immaculate.

My nose picked up the aroma of the scented candle as I moved around the room taking in the atmosphere and ensuring that nobody was hidden anywhere inside. Since the incident that occurred last night, I've been feeling increasingly paranoid.

When I checked the drapes that led out to the balcony, I noticed that even the terrace had been cleaned up, and there were no signs of blood or footprints anywhere on the surface.

Even though there is not the least proof that anyone has ever set foot in this spot, they were nevertheless able to enter and exit while I was gone for approximately four hours. To what degree does the influence of this man extend?

My skin started to quiver all over again, and I was reminded that a good-looking man may spell trouble for you. With features like his, he must have been blessed by God, but I'm going to say a fast prayer and ask God to keep us apart so we don't have to interact again.

Because I spent a significant amount of time in the sun, the sensation of burning that is currently present on my skin needs that I take a cool shower in order to alleviate it. This will allow me to feel better. I put the aloe gel in a safe location for later and started taking my clothing off. Since I started using tanning oil and sunscreen, my skin finally has the sun-kissed shine that I've been looking for. When I check my skin, I can see that it has the glow that I've been looking for. These two mixtures are a combination that I came up with on my own; they shield my skin from the sun's rays, and tanning oil gives it a golden tint.

I strolled to the shower and turned on the cold water options before immersing both my body and my hair. The cold water felt amazing on my skin, and I really enjoyed the sensation it gave me. I cleaned the sand and sweat that had gathered in my hair out with shampoo.

Because the water in the shower was so icy, my skin looked and felt fantastic once I got out of it, and the reason for this was because the water had been refreshing. In order to get ready for supper, I dried my short hair in front of the mirror. After that, I'll probably take a walk around the deck area of the ship to have a better look at the rest of the location. I have already guaranteed my father that I will be back in the state capital within a week, despite the fact that the cruise will only run for a total of three days. As I have a few extra days at my disposal, I may use them to get myself organized and ready for the routines that I will be expected to follow in the capital.

When I've finished putting on my floral chiffon dress, I stand in front of the mirror and spin till I feel more like myself. Simple blusher and tinted lip gloss are all I need to make me feel vain about my appearance.

As I was leaving the room, I took extra cautious to take additional safety measures just in case there were members of the Mafia waiting outside to murder me. He won't act in such a way, will he? In recognition of the assistance I had provided, he gave me a card that contained a monetary payment. Whatever the outcome of this situation may be, I plan to eagerly anticipate the supper and dessert that Abe has guaranteed to prepare for me. Because he was so insistent on cooking for me, he joked that I was a great opportunity for him to get some valuable experience before he enrolled in a culinary program. I won't be rude and reject such a thoughtful offer.

When I came to the restaurant on the third level, I observed that it was completely packed with people conversing, and the sound of people laughing was mixed in with the sound of clattering cutlery. Children were, as is customary, tearing through the dining hall, making the waitress anxious while their hand was on the enormous tray of food and their eyes were intently focused on the unruly children. These parents need to keep a close eye on their children because the situation is hazardous and might easily escalate.

When I turned my head, I saw Abe cheerfully waving to me from the table he had set up just for me.

"How are you doing today, Dorothy?"

"Are you ready to take your stomach on yet another new adventure?" he joked.

I could see that he was having a good time by the smile that was on his face as he pulled a cart full of food back towards me, and I have to say that I am enjoying this treatment a great deal. At least Connor paid for all of this trip's expenses alone.

He then presented me with a range of foods, each of which fell into one of two categories: western fare or Asian fare, depending on what it was. My dining table is laden with cuisines that attract the attention of very few individuals.

Every bite was a trip down memory lane, and I enjoyed those trips very well indeed. My tongue felt like it was going to explode from the juiciness of the roasted duck and the fragrance of the rice.

"Would it be possible for me to hire you as my personal chef when I become wealthy?" It made me laugh since a veterinarian could never be that wealthy. At least not in the first ten years of operation.

While I continued to concentrate on the food that was in front of me, Steve and Kevin removed the seats from in front of me and joined me at the table. I could see laughter in their eyes as they sat down watching me chowing down my food.

Abe was aware that I was entertaining visitors, he volunteered to assist me in serving them as well, and we all ate the meal that he had cooked especially for me.

They were all in agreement that the food is exceptionally mouthwatering. We compliment Abe, and to his luck, Steve gave him a card containing the number of the chef that teach in one of the best culinary school at the Capital.

The three of us discussed everything, and I'm in a good mood since no one asked me anything about Connor; no one knows I was the bride who was abandoned at the altar; maybe relocating to the capital was the greatest choice after all. Begin anew, and I can't wait to start my trip there as Dr. Alana Blair DVM so that I can get this adventure started!
