LEILANI’S POV

I could bang my head against the wall for admitting to him that I thought he was interesting. As much as I hated Timothy’s hands on me, I hated Christina touching him more. She draped her disgusting manicured hands on his arm as if it belonged there. I had to stop myself from gagging in front of them.

By no means was I a jealous or territorial woman, but around Ares, I seemed to lose sight of the woman I had tried so hard to become. As much as I enjoyed defying him, I couldn’t deny the subtle urge I had to want to please him. I quickly shook the thought away as I sat beside Timothy at the table.

“Feeling better now?” he asked.

I felt bad for lying to Timothy about why I needed air, but I didn’t know any nicer way of telling him that he was suffocating. His personality was the equivalent of watching a silent black-and-white film, boring and unentertaining.
