The hospital doors swung open as the EMTs rushed Louis in. Alicia waited in the hallway, her heart beating like a drum. Thankfully, the bullet only nicked his arm and didn't hit any bones.
Half an hour passed, and Louis was wheeled out with his wounds all sewn up. After the doctors had checked him over, Alicia helped him back to his room. She got him settled in bed, brought him some hot water to drink, and gently handed him his medicine.
Shortly after, a nurse came in to start Louis's IV drip.
The clear liquid slowly seeped into his body. Alicia gazed at Louis's pale face and thought out loud, "You've had a real run of bad luck this year, haven't you?"
Louis tried to smile, "Well, you're my good luck token. I'm fine when you're here. But when you're not, things go sideways."
"That doesn't add up. We were together today, and you still got hurt."
"That's because you wanted to break up."
Alicia laughed, "I can't argue with that."
Creation is hard, cheer me up!
