Madelyn had never met anyone as stubborn as Chuck. A win-win partnership sounded awesome, but he wouldn't go for it.

Before the security guards came to show her out, Madelyn left in a huff. As soon as she was outside the auction house, she pulled out her phone and quickly called Evelyn.

When they connected, Madelyn complained, "Grandma, your idea didn't work. Chuck kicked me out. He's super annoying, and I couldn't stand listening to him."

Evelyn frowned, "What did he say?"

"He said I have a terrible attitude, that I can only share the good times but not the bad, and that he doesn't want to work with me. How can a grown-up talk like that to a woman? He has no kindness or manners, it's so frustrating."

Evelyn thought for a second and said, "I thought I saw something special in his eyes when he looked at Alicia. Did I see wrong?"
