Nathaniel was stunned at Maya's words, he blinked and stared at the woman before him. 

"What?" he asked again.

"Why does it sound like you aren't willing to marry me anymore?" Nathaniel could feel his heart drop as soon as he heard Maya's question, he hadn't intended to make it seem that way.

Nathaniel combed his fingers through his hair as he began to wonder what he should do next.

He looked up at Maya and quickly saw the panicked look in her eyes.

They had both waited so long for this, both of them had suffered so much and when Maya was finally ready to say yes, to agree to take the next leap with him he paused.

Nathaniel was desperate to prove to her how wrong she was, he wanted to undo the pain and hurt he made her feel by doubting her words.

He ran his fingers through her wavy brown hair and gripped the back of her head, over taken with passion, he pressed his lips against hers and savored the taste of her sweet lips.
