Chapter 13: The Dreadful Day

[Warning - Violence]

--

*A WEEK BEFORE THE START OF THE UNDERWORLD WAR and Yohan's Retirement*

*POW* *POW* *POW*

Lance tirelessly punched the defenceless and powerless young man to a pulp while his spineless group of slaves, in the name of friends, cheered for him, making themselves comfortable on that basketball court.

It's not new for Yohan to get rounded up and beaten up, but this day was special. After successfully crushing his nose and breaking a few ribs, Lance spat on the tired Yohan.

"Come on, Yon! Aren't you gonna fight back? You're the fiance of the dear Vampire Princess and the son-in-law of the vampire lord... Come on!"

*CRACK* A powerful kick landed right on Yohan's abdomen, leading him to bleed internally. He squealed, rolled and let muffled cries in pain, but Lance and his friends were just getting started, emboldened and encouraged by Yohan's painful moans.

"Aaaah... I'm gonna crush his throa—"

"LANCE!" a majestic feminine voice echoed from behind, startling and freaking out every spineless moron in the place. Diana, with her deadly stare, walked towards Lance and his boys, holding a hell of fury.

"Lance, what the fuck are you doing? He said he wouldn't marry me... He backed off, okay? I heard from Father—"

"Where's the fun if he backs off on his own? And who the fuck is he to do gentleman fuckery for me? Do you know what others say? He gave up, honouring our mutual love and decision. FUCK! I want others to see how powerful I am!"

The contempt in Lance's eyes towards Yohan nauseated Diana. She always knew he was a douche, but seeing him spewing empty pride on a pointless thing, frustrated her.

"I won't take it, Diana... It must be like I FORCED HIM TO GIVE UP. LANCE ROACH beat the shit out of his girl's fiance and FORCED HIM TO LEAVE!"

The disgusting self-pride was a bit too much for everyone around and Diana rightfully glared him to death. Her dead, cold eyes pressured Lance to let Yohan go.

But Lance had a tad too much arrogance under his sleeve, forcing Diana to act quickly. She turned to a nearby slave of Lance and smiled at him.

"Your name is Hogan, right? Come here..." she sweetly invited him, and the naive guy obeyed with a nervous smile and came closer.

*BAM!* The sound of the skull cracking was heard aloud, as Diana crushed his skull, making him scream in pain, and forcing Lance to stop whatever he was doing.

"Lance, I hope you take your lovable slave to the hospital quickly... otherwise, he may die—"

"Yeah, yeah, I know... Boys, let's leave!" Lance dragged his spineless troop along and vanished from the basketball court, taking the wailing Hogan along.

Upon confirming that Lance and his troops truly left, Diana approached the struggling Yohan in pain. Her mind was basically blank, feeling no remorse or no pity for Yohan.

Instead, she wanted him to get more hurt; And she didn't know why.

"Are you gonna complaint to Father?" she asked, with her eyes observing the bleeding from Yohan's face and the tears in his humiliated eyes.

"Hmm... No. I'll say I tripped on the stairs—"

"Good. Because, you know... You deserved much more than this. If I was in his place, I would have ripped your eyeballs and would have fed it to my dog—"

"Thanks. Thank You for not being in his place, then..." Yohan grunted with a passive-aggressive tone and his joke was more anger-filled than funny-intended, while he pushed himself up and stood on his own.

His eyes refused to look at Diana and the tears dried up quickly as they were replaced by the bleeding blood. Diana frowned and felt a mild disturbance in her heart; a feeling she always felt whenever she saw him hurt.

"You could have stood up for yourself, you know... You know that he's not right for me, right? He's a walking example for spoiled brats."

"Tch! You already know that, ma'am? Must have been a very thoughtful decision, if you ask me..."

"Yes, I do. And it seems you know that too. So, why?"

"What else do you want me to do, ma'am? Ask your hand forcefully?" Yohan's flickering patience and his growing tiredness became more visible in his answers and that ticked off something in Diana.

She grew more frustrated for reasons she didn't understand and she felt a boiling rage on hearing Yohan's answers.

"You should have never accepted it, then! Why the heck did you even agree to my father's proposal? How can a scum like you even think of marrying me?"

"I declined it now, didn't I? Ma'am—"

"Stop calling me, ma'am every second... You—" She grunted and tightly shut her eyelids, calming herself. But her heart raced more, as she was tempted to ask one question.

"You should have killed yourself before declining the proposal... Lance was right, you scum... Do you know what others will talk about? Do you think it's going to be easy—"

"So, you want me to die... Right?"

Like a vacuum inside a tightly shut bottle, the atmosphere had nothing but silence and some whispers from a few ravens. Diana stared at Yohan, who kept his face turned away from her, refusing to meet Diana's eyes. Whether it was respect or disgust could be only known to Yohan.

"Tell me, this... Do you hate me?"

Yohan spat a saliva of blood and chuckled to himself, hearing the question. A smile of understanding and sadness concealed with a plastic mask, as he enjoyed the 'joke'.

"Hmm... Who am I to hate you? I'm a nobody, right?..."

"Then, tell me this..." She proceeded to get closer to him, bringing her face towards Yohan's, leaving only a few inches of a gap between them.

"Do you think I hate you?" Diana asked with a feeling of longing in her eyes and a curiosity in her tone, but Yohan was too fed up to take notice, so he answered it straight without any thought.

An answer that came straight from his heart without any meddling. And an answer which went on to be prompting Diana all throughout her life to ask the same question herself over and over and to everyone she met, only to confirm all of them had the same answer.

"YES. I DO"

--

Reminded by the haunting past as a nightmare, Diana Jones woke up from her bed, panting and full of tears. To her next, was a cold, pale corpse of a man, lying on the bed naked and drained of blood.

Seeing him, Diana slapped herself on the forehead as he remembered what she had done last night in a drunken stupor.

"Guess, I should have settled for goat's blood... Anya! Clean this up for me, please..."

Chapter 14: The Assasination School

[PRESENT]

[Three Days Later AFTER Yohan's acceptance of Diana's deal]

--

Ramika, in a custom-made white coat suit and a complimenting white tie, stepped out of the 'quarters'. It was a totally new unknown side of the city and Ramika wasn't even mildly amused. The awaiting taxi caught her attention, triggering a recollection of Yohan's whispered words during her groggy morning state.

'I'll be leaving quickly... Don't be late to the school. Arrive before 9. A taxi will be arranged for you...'

"Hmph! School for 20-year-olds? How absurd can it be?" Ramika cursed to herself. She very well remembered her heated argument with Yohan, regarding his idea of dumping her in the school for assassins.

But she very well knew that Yohan must have had his reasons, so she agreed despite her unwillingness.

--

Shielded from the humans' eyes, the *School Of Assassins* functioned in secrecy by strategically locating itself in obscure corners of various cities and countries. And now, in Oasis, it was hidden in a secluded forest and was invisible to common humans due to the high-end technology that rendered the entire area invisible.

And Ramika, a simple human, entered the area, which was deliberately designed to prohibit the kinds of individuals like her. The taxi went all the way in and reached the magnificently installed huge iron door.

The door opened on its own as soon as the security showed his badge towards the hidden cameras embedded in the door. The sides of the door parted away and let the taxi pass.

And there Ramika witnessed the vast environment of the *Assassins' School* and the horde of students, walking towards the main campus. The taxi stopped, and the driver gave out a pink slip to Ramika.

"My job is done here, ma'am... Please follow the instructions on the slip."

The driver bid adieu and drove off, leaving Ramika to carry on her own. Holding on to her backpack, Ramika let a deep sigh and joined the walking crowd while looking at the slip, which had instructions on what to do and where to go.

'I can't write much, okay? Just ask someone where is B-15. They'll look weirdly at you and deliberately will point you in the wrong direction, giggling to themselves. Don't fall for it, it's for bullying you. For a hot second, they'll look in an unrelated direction before answering you. That's the direction of the hall. Take care.'

Ramika gritted her teeth and squashed the useless slip.

"How the fuck am I supposed to do that? What are these mind-reading, psychological stuff? And why the heck is he describing it like, it's easy?"

Sighing out loud, she just gave up and mindlessly followed his instructions, taking it not seriously.

But the surprising thing was... it worked.

--

Dressed in a black thigh slit mini skirt and a red shirt, Diana proudly walked through the corridors, hearing the number of gasps and chatterings praising her beauty. But Diana was all smiles because of the person next to her.

*BAM!* Her bodyguards kicked the door open and Diana, dragging the unwilling person next to her, entered the 'staff' room - a room for trainers and teaching staff to rest in their breaks, handle their paperwork and keep their things.

It was lavish and had every necessity, such as an air conditioner, a fridge containing beverages, and a candy box. And each teacher had their own desk in the shared cabin designed in a way like a round table and had a total of Six divisions. But only seven teachers were present and only seven seats were filled, while the eighth one was waiting for the replacement teacher.

Seeing Diana in front of them, all the teachers stood from their seats and obediently bowed to their Dean and Princess, but wondered who the person next to him was and why the ever-grim Diana was all smiles and bright.

"Ma'am, who is that?" the green eyes Professor Ramona asked, with her eyes darting over the bored and tired individual.

"Oh, this is the new trainee professor I handpicked myself who'll be teaching the students languages and culinary arts... Yohan Karvakarn!" Diana, with a heavy bass voice and too much excitement, introduced Yohan to the others, who were baffled at looking at the contrasting reaction of their boss and her new employee.

Wearing his glasses and chef uniform except for the hat, Yohan was literally wailing inside and had put on his joyless, dead face to avoid needless awkwardness. He hated the idea of being in the centre of attention, especially in the centre of darting eyes, looming over him.

Chits and chatterings soon ignited as the teachers talked among themselves, discussing their displacement on Diana's decision and bringing them forth to her attention.

"Professor Joshua hasn't resigned yet, right? Then how it's possible, ma'am?"

"This guy won't stand a single day... the students will eat them. And he even smells like a human. What is he?"

"Ma'am, Joshua will be pissed. He wouldn't like it. You know the control he has over the school and the senior students..."

Hearing all the worthless complaints, Diana glared with an irritated look, while her lips twitched to bite off each of their heads. The staff room soon became quiet as a graveyard with her cold aura, taking over the room, shutting their yapping mouths.

And soon, she laced the angry glare with her poisonous smile and 'comforted' her employees.

"Well... I'm pretty sure, Mister Yohan could take care of it, himself. Won't you, Yohan?"

"Get over it, please. I'm literally getting beaten to death by my anxiety here." Yohan sighed, wanting nothing from the situation.

"Alrighty, gentlemen and gentlewomen... Take care of my new employee. And whatever petty procedures you have and follow... YOU CAN." She said with a special pressure on the last part, triggering a feeling of suspicion in Yohan; who, of course, failed to think further about it and shrugged it off.

Diana exited the room, and Yohan casually turned towards his new colleagues and workplace; only to be faced by a hostile glare and deadly aura looming over him for reasons best known to only them.

'What did she mean by *YOU CAN*? What does that mean?' he thought.

--

As Yohan was lost in thoughts, Diana hopped into her car and drove off from the secluded forest and started travelling towards an important meeting she scheduled with an important person.

She unbuttoned her shirt and pulled down her skirt, as she changed into a cutout body con black gown, for the event.

In front of her, next to the driver's seat, Anya Rose handed her a glass of goat's blood and read out the 'message'.

"We strongly condemn the inclusion of the traitor Yohan Karvakarn and the criminal Ramika Ray aka Diana into the graveyard of the Underworld—"

"HAHA!! Fufuf... Sorry, Anya. Continue..." Diana Jones laughed at the coincidence of Ramika's original name being identical to hers and silently chuckled to herself.

While Anya continued with her strong, serious tone.

"Hence, we strongly appeal to excluding Yohan and delivering the intended justice for his treacherous acts, once and for all. Therefore, we would like to say, or in other words, warn the Vampire Clan to remove Yohan from their roster and handover to us. Otherwise, the Hunters' Clan would be forced to raise their hand—"

"Yeah, yeah... Enough, Anya. Tch!" Diana politely instructed her secretary, while she took three sweet sips of the blood, as she sighed and lamented.

But also laughed.

"Those dickheads... as usual. Wanted everything for themselves... Tch! Let them come. Let them have a taste of their enemy's blade." A small grin appeared on her face, as she chuckled, thinking the wildest and darker thoughts.

"Hmm... We'll see how the great Uncrowned King is going to defend himself. Against the wrath of the organization he left behind...."
