Chapter 201: Dousing the Fire

As Zara continued to be preened by the maid it was a battle not to pace. Good thing her back was to me. She'd see my face and know the fire within me was not desire—and she wouldn't let up until she knew what made me burn.

I fought for peace, fought to return to the beauty of her and our love. But the tormenting thoughts of her Defender wouldn't leave me.
