I was so fucking angry that I couldn't dress alone. So angry I almost cried.

It was our final moments together alone and we were both cursing and frustrated and… it drove me crazy.

I'd done fine with the complicated undergarments. Now I was struggling with the dress and David was trying to help, but the truth was, neither of us understood the complicated lacing of the bodice. And somehow my skirts weren't laying flat as they should.

In the end, half-dressed, I gave up trying to make it work, knowing the maid would come and assist me when we called for her, and I tried to turn my attention to David for the few moments we had left.
