~ ZARA ~
We all straggled into the dining room for a late breakfast a few hours later. I was reluctantly reunited with Agatha, though I was glad to see that she seemed healthy and undisturbed by the events of the night.
She was, however, clearly sleep deprived—and I suspected, a little more sore than usual. She kept me running to servants for everything from another cup of rich coffee, to a request for the presence of another noble.
Even though it was annoying, it did give me something to do other than to wonder how long Emory had stayed with Stark—and David?—the night before.
That niggling unease about her wouldn't leave me alone. I needed to talk to David and make sure they were guarding against her potential betrayal.
But they were smart enough for that. Of course they were…
Unless the fact that she was a favorite for the crown had clouded everything?
