Emily's face displayed a bewildered expression as she locked eyes with Raylen, while the music continued to play on without missing a beat, as though a bottle being shattered on top of a man's head was a regular occurrence and nothing special to pay attention to. He remarked, 

"Hello there, sparrow. Time to get back into the cage."

"What are you doing here?" Emily asked before she realised the man lying beside her feet hadn't gotten up. In shock, she exclaimed, "Did you kill him?!"
