"Here are the rules. Your first location will be based on the paper you got. When you get there, you have to solve the activity in less than an hour before moving to the next location. Failure to complete the task or leave after an hour will cause a penalty in your group."
"Whether you complete the activity or not, the next location will be given, but not the clue. By 4pm, you can start moving to the final location where a surprise will await you."
"Now, it's 12:57pm. You can open the paper now, but you can't leave until 1pm strikes. Good luck everyone."
After listening to the explanation, I can't help but look at the rest of my teammates who seem unbothered... except for one. She must be a new student like me. I wonder why they're acting like she's not here though?
"I'm Selena. You?"
"Oh um, I'm Chelsea."
I plan to talk to the girl for the next 3 minutes while the others are busy discussing about the location on the side.
"Are you new?" I asked her.
"N-no. I just, I'm scared."
"What are you scared of?"
"Today. There's just something off about today and I can't deduce what it is."
I can't help but look at her behavior. Her eyes are wavering, her lips are quivering, and she's sweating bullets. She can't keep her composure nor sit still. She starts to bite her nails and keeps looking to the side.
Curious, I look at the direction she was looking at. Everyone is busy discussing except for one student. He is sitting on the desk with his right arm on his right leg, facing us. She's looking straight at the back of Chelsea's head.
Weird. That's going to be my first impression of this class. First Spencer and now, this guy?
I face Chelsea and give her a soft smile.
"Don't worry, if anything happens, you can count on me."
"Thank you, um... What's your name again? I'm sorry I wasn't able to pay attention."
I smile wider and say, "Selena. Call me Selena."
That promise wasn't really a promise. I just want to try to make her calm down all the while I'm observing how the guy is acting.
Emotionless, that's how I'm going to describe him. He stubbornly continues to drill holes onto the girls head. Huh, interesting.
I lean back at the table I am sitting on and look around more and spot Spencer. Weirdly enough, he's having a straight conversation with his group mates.
I observe the way he speaks and listens. He's comparable to a leader. But for me, he acts more like an attendant who acts behind the scenes by making the leader front.
Then out of the blue, he stops talking and gives me a glance. Red hair seriously doesn't suit him. I wonder how he'd look with his original hair color.
"Okay class. 3 minutes is up. You may exit the classroom in 3, 2, 1, and GO!"
Everyone starts rushing for the door, ultimately squeezing each other and dispersing into different directions.
Chelsea and I go behind to avoid all that commotion while I maintain my sight on Lucas. He's pretty tall so I can see his light grayish brown hair stand out from the crowd.
While holding Chelsea's wrist, we run to Lucas but I accidentally bump into someone.
"My apologies, are you alright?" I ask the person.
She fixes her eyeglasses before looking up at me. I look at her and is surprised to see Christina. She gives me the stink eye before catching up to Lucas.
I decide to walk with her because she seems to know about stuff.
"So Christina was it? Which location did we get?" I ask her, tilting my head to the right side of her face.
"We're going to the gym," she says and proceeds to walk faster. I cross my arms and look up in thought. Why out of all locations did we get the gym first? The canteen would've been better.
Tap tap
I look over my right shoulder and see Chelsea looking up at me with her hands clasped together. I totally forgot that she was still here.
"Shouldn't we go faster? We might lose track of them."
Alright. Let's see how their gym looks.
