If Cael was in the mood for this, he'd give Nizaar and his subordinates some respect. The attack they used on him was well-executed and powerful. Because it wasn't a spell, they required very little time to use it, but it packed a strong punch.
It put Cael in a dilemma—to use a spell powerful enough to block it, Cael had to remove his temporal hastening, but without the temporal hastening, he wouldn't be able to finish a protective spell that strong in time.
He could've done with a weaker spell and pushed through the pain and burns, but Cael acted differently.
The hint came to him with the wave of heat that came above the spell. The hot air pushed Cael up before the explosion itself could hit him.
All Cael had to do was to spread his wings wide and use that phenomenon further by helping himself with some magic!
I should stop writing chapters so late at night. Gaaaaaah. But I had a plan, and at least this plot follows it. This chapter probably has more typos than average, though...
