The one downside of the petrification gas was that it blocked Dante's view just as much as Cael's—more and more with each passing minute. Even so, he was sure that his last stone spike hit him.
He sensed the destruction of Cael's air bubble spell and saw the silhouette of his body stopping in place. Elation made Dante's heart jump in his chest.
The other mage was quick on his feet! It was fascinating to watch, but also troublesome. Dante didn't want to lose due to attrition, although he didn't use spells who used too much mana yet.
Transforming the stone of the walls into the petrification compound was the most mana-expensive spell Dante used for that fight, but that happened a while ago. He has had time to recover since then.
Now Dante paused, trying to gauge Cael's state. After the last hit, he still didn't restore his air bubble—but he was definitely alive. His aura felt much weaker than before, though.
