Chapter 158: Countdown

Cael clenched his teeth and kept pressing on the <zero> glyph. Two more presses later, all the glyphs flashed red.

'Four numbers on each of the six positions… Four multiply by four six times. 4096!'

It was way too many. Cael looked at the gathered fettas. There were no chances any of them knew the code. They wouldn't even know what the glyphs meant!

Cael focused on the artifact tablet again. There were no other glyphs on its surface than the ones he saw, but it wasn't the only place with glyphs near. Cael's eyes fell on the ringing bell.

He pushed through the crowd of animals—an easy feat as they fearfully scrambled away from him as soon as he approached—and looked at the bell. Glyphs were engraved all along its surface, and Cael read them the best he could when the bell was swaying back and forth.

Most of them were entirely irrelevant. They protected the bell from harm and made it move and ring on command. The last line caught Cael's attention.
