Chapter 5: Agreement with 'Myself' and the 'Touchy' Encounter.
I heard the deep, domineering voice again, calling me over and over, asking if I wanted power. I shouted into the darkness, demanding to know who it was and what they wanted from me.
"Boy, do you want power?" The voice echoed, this time sounding closer to me.
"Where are you? Answer me!" I shouted, but no sound came out of my mouth.
A large silhouette appeared beside me, whispering. "Boy, I've always been beside you."
A chill ran down my spine, and I froze, afraid to move. The silhouette turned to face me, revealing a gigantic snake with dark green scales, wounds and grazes covering its body.
The snake spoke again. "Be at ease, boy, for I am now as weak as a dying elephant." It lowered its head.
I asked in confusion, "What are you, really?" Stepping back cautiously.
"I am you. To be more accurate, I am a part of you," the snake replied in a low tone.
I joked nervously, "But I'm a human, and you're... Anyway, how could that be?"
The snake explained, "I recently woke up when I felt a sudden surge of energy coiling around me. I thought I could find an answer by reading your thoughts while you were sleeping, only to discover that you and I are the same."
I touched my chin, lost in thought. "Perhaps the surge of energy came from when I walked past the purge door. But what about the dream?"
The snake interrupted my thoughts. "Tell me now, boy, do you still want power?" It stared at me intently.
I answered eagerly, "Of course, but what's in it for you?" Trying to hide my excitement.
The snake sighed. "I know I can no longer become great, so I must pass on my power. All I ask is that you find the remaining parts of me once I fade and become a part of you." It sounded sentimental.
I felt its emotions as if they were my own, and I took a deep breath before asking, "How will I find them?"
"A part of my power will guide you, and your gut feeling will lead you to them. You will realize what kind of power you gain with each remnant you absorb. I don't have much time left, so I leave my will to you," the snake said as its body faded into tiny bits of light, the plain around me turning into an outer space filled with stars.
I stared at the fading light, trying to comprehend the surreal events that had unfolded before me. From the strange phenomenon to the conversation with the snake, everything felt unreal. But I knew that my life was about to change, as I embarked on a journey to find the remnants of the snake's power and fulfill its will.

I gently opened my eyes, only to realize that everything had just been a dream. Disappointed, I pressed the release button inside the capsule where I had been sleeping. "Not again," I complained aloud, feeling like an idiot as I talked to myself while sitting up.
A soft voice came through the headband I was wearing before sleeping. "What were you talking about? You sounded disappointed with something. Do you feel something off in your body?" The doctor rushed into my capsule, leaning over to touch my head and chest.
This time, I noticed her smooth, white skin partially covered by a black embroidered cloth peeking out from her loose uniform.
I quickly replied, trying to cover my embarrassment. "I'm fine, thank you for your concern." I closed my eyes and pushed her away.
As I sat up and tried to get out of the capsule, I felt a soft sensation on both of my hands. When I opened my eyes, I realized that I was holding onto something other than her shoulders.
I quickly withdrew my hands and pushed myself out of the capsule, trying to stand up. But my hands slipped from the sweat on my palms, and I ended up falling forward, landing face-first into the doctor's chest.
She pushed my face away, straightened herself, and stepped back, saying, "In all the two years I've been hit on while on duty, this is the first time someone has actually made a move on me. Pouncing on me like that, I didn't know you were such a hungry wolf." The doctor's cheeks turned red as she tried to hold back her laughter.
I snapped out of my daze and stammered, "No, I..." I felt like I had messed up big time.
The doctor placed the capsule back in its place after I had stood up and stepped back. She then said, "Relax, I was just teasing you. I'll let it go this time since you showed me quite a spectacle. But don't go telling everyone about this, or I'll be mad." She then became serious.
I stood up straight, like a soldier, and replied, "Yes, ma'am!" I felt relieved that I would live to tell the tale when I got older.
As the classes were dismissed, I went back to the classroom to collect my belongings. The whole class stared at me for a moment, and then the professor called me over suddenly to hand me today's lecture. I thanked him and hurriedly left to catch a cab.
It had been a long, exhausting day for me. I recalled everything that had happened, from the bullies, to the strange dream, to the soft sensation... and then I stopped. "Let's not think about it anymore," I sighed deeply.
I finished all of the day's lectures and had some miso soup prepared for me by the support bot, which I had jokingly named "bootleg" because it sounded funny.
I watched some old documentaries about a dynasty that existed a thousand years ago, thinking that the snake I had encountered in my dream might have been an ancient one. I also tried searching on Seedly, the world's top source of information, for clues, but to no avail.
Feeling tired of browsing the internet, I went to sleep for the night. I hadn't found anything except for the snake's name, "Rahu," which was eerily similar to my own name.
