"Slow your roll there, son." Dad had said, a laugh in his voice. "You're getting ahead of yourself."

"How so?" I answered him, only half paying attention to his words, and they mingled with the ones in my head. 

"Well, you're starting to plan out your future, and you just met her minutes ago." He was chuckling as he walked into the room with us, Mom right beside him.

"That's not true." I spoke defiantly. "I have known her for over a year." 

"You know what I meant." He grinned at me. "We have to do this right. We need to call Ocean and Makai here to tell them. We need to settle things about what is going to happen from here on out. And, for crying out loud, Sereia and Talia had plans for the night. We can settle all of this tomorrow, OK?"
