Chapter 23: Pulled back from nothingness.

Golden. Everything is golden. 

Severo has never thought he would ever open his eyes again, not in this life at least, not in this body. But when he does, everything is golden, it blinds his vision. 

How is he even alive in the first place? 

He remembers the sharp sting of the blade when it tears through his skin, the burn and the dazing agony. He remembers it so clearly that he can almost feel it again. Feel the pain streaming inside him. 

From the way the pain sprouted through his veins and cut off his senses, he believed that would be the end of him. Waking up to this golden light was the last thing he ever expected. 

What the prince still can't believe is the way the sword just slashes through him even before he can comprehend what is happening. The magic. He never saw something like that before. 

He should be thankful that he is alive but the paranoia bubbling inside him is too hard to ignore.
