Chapter 4: Chapter Three

It felt like I did the right thing when I joined the reserved guy on the carpeted floor. It wasn't for him, I could pinpoint it when he didn't lift his head up to see me.

I felt somewhat bashful around him, but I just had to try and grab his attention. I wasn't in the fangirl moment, or obsessive. He was interesting to me because he was the opposite of the norms and standards here.

He was an enticing trapeze to me and as I inspected his features starkly, he had smooth eyelashes that connected when he blinked and when he concentrated, his lips thinned out together. He was intimidating and I didn't know what I was getting into, but I felt okay around him.

I had no clue what to say to him, and I knew he heard me quoting Pablo. He just didn't comment as he flipped the page, my patience was slim to none, and I had to say something to the silent guy next to me.

"Don't you ever get sick of not talking?"

I asked, and again, no answer. Which irritated me to ask more questions.

"I've seen you around school," I gave him an exasperated sigh after that when he didn't give anything off. "You know I ditched Leslie to speak to you." I wanted to surprise him or get any reaction from him.

But to no avail. He just kept scanning every word in the book with his eyes, his curls sprang out of the hoodie and I decided to grab the book he was holding.

Bad move.

His eyes flashed dangerously at me, getting a gasp out of me before he roughly grabbed his book with no sound. My heart went haywhire and my body was shaken up at the look he gave me.

I stood up and I felt angry for being rejected to no end. I wasn't a quitter, but I had to plan something else to get him back to our world. The librarian gave me a stink eye before I left but I didn't dwell much. I was going to dig deeper into his past and see what I could find.

A crazy idea that included Jocelyn formed in my brain but I dimissed it quickly.

I came back to school, where Leslie laid his back on the hood of his car, the sleek Jeep was covered in thin ice. I was raging at how he treated me, it was way too disrespectful and it made me feel self-conscious. I found myself in front of Leslie, my boots slippery but I managed to straighten up.

"Can you give me a ride to Vera's place?" I asked.

"Of course, my lady," He joked and I rolled my eyes at him before getting into his comfortable car. I zipped up my blue cotton jacket as Leslie started the car. "Were you able to buy the book?"

"No, it was closed." I hastily made up an excuse when Leslie veered off to Abovyan street as snowflakes drizzled down the thin tall trees and onto the car's windows.

After Leslie's rant about how his varsity team had been slacking and how coach Ronald was hard on them, we finally stopped in front of Vera's villa, my sister was financially stable enough to leave our family to be independent on her own like she always was, she made money doing what she loved the most.

She was a tattoo artist and her tattoo parlor was next to her villa. She was older than me by two years, a college dropout and a freelancer.

Leslie and I said our goodbyes before he drove off, Vera opened the door for me after I pressed on the doorbell. My tattooed sister greeted me with a bear hug and I hugged her back.

"Vera, I need your help with something."
