Chapter 2: 1.2 The switched at birth mortal
When Persie opened his eyes, he felt a violent push against the wall. He looked at the responsible, stunned.
The young man had striking features that immediately caught one's attention. His most prominent feature was his piercing gold eyes that shone like two small suns, giving him an intense gaze.
His golden eyes were complemented by his thick, dark brown hair that was styled in a simple, yet elegant way.
His hair fell in soft waves around his forehead and ears, framing his face in a way that emphasized his sharp cheekbones and jawline.
He had a youthful appearance with a fresh complexion that radiated health and vitality. His skin was smooth and clear, with a warm undertone that seemed to glow in the light.
The man wrapped a hand around his neck and howled, "I don't like you, freak. I never have, and I never will."
Persie blinked to receive this world's information. The mortal was a 21-year-old omega named Leander, who had been raised in the prominent Leos household.
The Leos household was renowned throughout the galaxy for their company, Leos Enterprises.
The company specialized in designing, manufacturing, and selling smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices to consumers and businesses.
It consisted of six subsidiaries, including manufacturing, sales and marketing, acquisition, intergalactic, service, and research and development, each run by a family member.
Leander's father, Demetrius, was in charge of the research and development subsidiary, and Leander had been raised to be the heir.
Leander had a natural talent for developing new technologies and creating products, and he worked hard to impress Luke, the heir of Leos Enterprises, and be his right-hand man.
Leos Enterprises had been founded by Arsenio, who had lost his son at a young age and raised his grandson, Cole, to be the leader of both the household and the company.
When Arsenio became sick, he adopted Luke, knowing that Cole would never marry and have children.
As Arsenio passed away, Luke became Cole's apprentice, and when Cole left the planet to build another base on the neighboring planet, Luke took a bigger role in the company.
During Leander's first board of directors meeting, he met Luke and fell in love with him at first sight. He tried everything in his power to seduce Luke and earn even a glance from him but failed.
All Luke cared about was becoming a good president and leader of the Leos household. Leander felt disappointed but stayed positive.
His life was turned upside down when an omega named Evander knocked at his door and revealed that he was the birth son of Demetrius and Calista.
Evander said that he didn't want anything from them but wanted to get to know them since he didn't have much time left.
He had a congenital heart defect, and his condition had progressed from mild to severe. When his parents, Hector and Yolanda, were tested to see if they were a match, they found out that they were not his birth parents.
Evander was put on the waiting list for a heart but was at the bottom. If he didn't find a willing donor in the next six months, he would die.
After Demetrius and Calista took paternity and maternity tests, they realized that Evander had been telling the truth all along.
They invited him to move into the house and promised to find him a match to reduce the risk of organ rejection.
Despite seeing how much his parents cherished Evander, Leander welcomed him. He treated him as his brother.
When Evander expressed interest in working in the same sector as him, Demetrius proposed that Leander take Evander as his apprentice.
That way, once he would be healthy again, he could work under Leander. Leander agreed and taught Evander everything he knew.
Leander found it weird how well Evander understood the field. Evander had told him that he knew nothing about it, but Leander felt that he had experience.
In just two months, Evander mastered his job and when he found out about Leander's feelings for Luke, he did everything in his power to help him win Luke's heart.
Evander shared all the things that Luke had told him about what he liked in omegas, both mentally and physically.
With Evander's help, Leander changed his appearance and finally caught Luke's attention. One day, Leander's parents asked him to get tested to see if he was a match for Evander.
Although Leander was confused because even if he was a match, it would mean that he would have to die, he agreed when his parents explained that they could use the donor's blood to give Evander more time.
The next time he saw Evander and his parents, they were celebrating that he was a match. Evander hugged Leander and thanked him for being willing to give him his heart. However, Leander refused and said that he wanted to live a long life like everyone else.
Evander started to cry and accused Leander of being selfish for not giving up his heart when he had "stolen" his life.
Leander was heartbroken when his parents told him to do it as a way of thanking them for raising him, despite not being their biological child.
Despite everything, Leander refused. A few days later, the house was back to normal, and Leander felt like he could breathe again.
He was relieved to see that his parents hadn't thrown him out, and Evander had apologized for his behavior.
Leander felt happy when he heard that Leader Cole was coming back to the planet and had invited all the Leos to the chateau.
Cole wanted to hear from every head of the subsidiaries and the heir about their new plans for the new year.
The entire family planned to spend the weekend at the chateau, which gave Leander a chance to be close to Luke, who had been kind to him lately.
Upon arrival, Leander sneaked into his bedroom and decided to confess his feelings, encouraged by Evander.
However, when Luke caught him in his bedroom, he insulted and humiliated him, claiming that Leander didn't deserve to be part of the family and was selfish for not giving his heart to Evander, after stealing his life.
Luke said he would never love him and gave him a bottle of pills, telling him it was the only way to make everyone happy.
Heartbroken, Leander went to dinner later that evening, determined to make a good impression on Cole.
When Cole inquired about their subsidiary, Leander was surprised to hear his father say that Evander was his new heir.
Before he could say something, Evander presented all of the brilliant ideas Leander had shared with him before dinner and Cole praised him. Leander felt devastated.
Later that night, he took the pills Luke had given him and was found dead the next day. The case was quickly closed and deemed a suicide.
The following day, Evander underwent a successful heart transplant, and during the surgery, Luke realized his true feelings for Evander and the two became a couple.
They married a year later and took over Leos Enterprises together when Cole retired, with their son as the heir.
As Persie received all this information, he attempted to escape from Luke's chokehold but was unsuccessful and felt as though he was drowning.
Iris appeared beside Luke and felt his aura crushing Persie.
She spoke up and said, "You can heighten your physical attributes."
Persie quickly opened Aurora and enhanced his body, boosting every attribute to the max.
He let out a breath and looked at Luke with wet eyes, asking with difficulty, "Why are you doing this?"
Luke snarled in response, "Because I'm sick of you following me around everywhere I go. You're nothing more than a selfish brat. Instead of giving Evander back his life, you persist in staying in a family you're not part of. You realize that everyone hates you, right?"
Persie looked at Luke with wide eyes, and tears ran down his face as he asked, "Y-you think I should die and give my heart to Evander?"
Luke tightened his hold on Persie and took a step forward, "I do. Unlike you, he is a real Leos. You've already stolen his parents; are you going to steal his life too?"
When Persie started to sob, Luke let go of him and pulled out a bottle of pills from his pocket, handing it to him. Persie took it with a trembling hand.
Luke said, "I hate you, and my heart already belongs to someone else. Your parents feel the same way. Do everyone a favor and use those pills. You'll fall into a peaceful sleep and won't feel any pain."
Persie looked at Luke as though he had betrayed him.
Luke burst out laughing, "I can't believe you actually thought I liked you, especially with your new repulsive appearance."
Luke's smile faded, and he warned Persie, "If you show up in my room unannounced again, I'll kill you myself."
Persie looked down at the pills with tears and ran out of the room.
