Chapter 140: Sublime Challenge

Meilyr left the cavern, trailed by the visibly reborn Gessius, Phaedro, and Pellio. 

The glint of despair in their eyes had all but faded, and they happily followed him with a much different bearing than before—akin to servants shadowing their lord. 

"Can I ask what that sudden disturbance was?" Icilia immediately probed. 

"No." 

Meilyr shrugged her annoyed grimace, turning towards his Soulbound. "Gal, these are new members of my retinue. Try to get along with them." 

"Retinue?" Icilia echoed, tilting her head in confusion. 

Gal-Enshu's reaction was a strange mixture of surprise, confusion, sadness, and fear. He lowered his head, attempting to hide the all-revealing twitches on his face. Yet, the mystical flow squirming within him spoke no lie. 

He probably dreaded being replaced and saw these retainers as a sign that Meilyr was dissatisfied with him.
