Chapter 22: Chapter 22: The Legend of... (part 2)
[ Haruki's POV ]
After I entered Mom's subconscious space,
I was in some wide and beautiful grass field. Every subconscious space is made by using their imagination. It represents the person in the question.
As for how to interpret them, I have no idea about this. There's only so much you can learn in just 3 hours.
All things aside, I need to find Mom. Which isn't that difficult since only thing on this field that is different is that there's a house at some distance from where I am.
I started running towards it. Now, I wanted to knock, but I didn't know if I should. I was a little afraid, but it was just for some moment.
I knocked on the door. It got open on it's own. I went in. Everything in there seemed normal. But no-one in there seemed to be able to see me.
There were three people in there, one of them was Mom. The other two were me and dad. This seemed to be Mom's desire to want dad to be here with us? Now that it seems to be fulfilled, Mom is not willing to let go of this imaginary world.
She seemed happy. But this is not real. She will realise it soon. Once she does, she may one day give up on this dream completely. If that happens, she'll truly die.
I am going to do what I came here for. To take her back.
I can't interact with her. Maybe because I am not experienced enough with this. I mean, this first time I'm doing this after all.
'Maybe I have to have strong desire to interact with her? It's a world made out of desires, so that should be the case, ideally. Right?.... I'll just try it.' I thought.
I started to focus. Focus on what I want. To talk to her. And the world around me stopped. Aside from Mom, who was startled at first but then seemed to realise what was happening, everything stopped.
She was panicking. She was perceiving this all as reality, so such reaction wasn't unexpected.
"Mom." I called out to her. My voice was calm. She's already panicking, I don't want to confuse her even more than she already is.
"Haruki?.... What... what is going on here? Why are you so tall?! No, are you really my Haru-chan?! What's happening here?!" She was not looking good here. If she's losing it even inside of it, that's a whole another level of mess.
Instead of answering I focused and forced to remove everything, erase all these imagination from here while also forcing her to stop thinking about them. All there was left now was just an open vast sky with a wide grassland under our feet.
It was really difficult, but I was learning to get a hang of it rapidly because of [ Quick Learner ] blessing plus the huge amount of Chakra I have.
Once everything was done, Mom seemed to have regained her consciousness.... inside her subconscious. She regained her memories of what happened just before she fainted.
That also means she realised what she lost just now. Although imaginary, it was what she wanted. She had tears flowing down her cheeks. She realised what she was holding onto wasn't something she can have. Also she remembered there's so much left she can return to.
After a few moments, she turned to me and said, "I'm really sorry, Haru-chan. I must have made you all worried about me." with a gentle smile on her face.
"Although I want to ask you how are we here, and what actually this place is, but I want to leave here first. Is there a way out?" Her expressions instantly changed. She felt light hearted somehow.
"There is. But you'll need to wait for some time. Your... brain is still healing." I said. Although I was curious about that change, but that can wait.
"I can't stay here for long. I have to leave now. You'll be fine, right? We are waiting for you. All of us. Aunty was too sad when she saw you like that. Please come back to us. Okay? And also, I love you Mom. Please don't leave me." I said to her.
I didn't have much time left so I had to say everything that could make her want to come back. Staying here will affect my mind. Maybe I can heal from that, but I'm not willing to take such risks.
After giving Mom a hug, I left her subconscious space.
When I opened my eyes, I felt like I'd collapse right there. I was exhausted. Not physically, but mentally. Atleast I can hope for success.
I could see that her recovery speed has increased exponentially. She should be fine in just a few hours. I finally felt relieved.
"She will be fine." That's all I could say to the others that were there before I lost my consciousness. I guess I was just too tired.
When I woke up, I was on my bed. I quickly checked the time, it was already about to be noon. I slept for almost 12 hours. That's the longest I've slept in this life. I quickly ran out of my room. I wanted to check if Mom woke up.
I found her sitting on the couch in the living room with both of her sisters. Aunty Hana must have came when I was trying to get Mom out of there.
Mom had Eri sitting on her lap. She was cuddling her. She looked happy. Genuinely happy. It reminded me of the smile I saw in that dream world of hers.
After watching this for a minute or two, I went closer to all of them. As soon as Eri saw me, she instantly jumped out of Mom's lap and asked me to carry her. I had no reasons to decline such a demand, so I complied with it. Eri was obviously happy about it.
For some reason, she seemed a little too attached to me. Not that I mind though.
After playing with Eri in my arms, I sat right next to Mom with Eri on my lap playing with Ell in her mini form. Ell was showing off her new clothes to her. She got addicted to dressing up after spending so much time with Mom.
Everyone was looking at all this with smiles on their faces. The mood of the surrounding was comfortable and relaxing. Part of the reason was the seal I put in the house some time ago, but mostly because everyone was here quietly showing that they're here for each-other. Maybe a bit too much sentiments there, but that's just how I was feeling here.
This again reminded me of what I'm pushing myself for. Those smiles. I am going to protect them, no matter the cost.
[ Time skip 3 months ]
After dealing with the aftermath that came after the building collapse. I started my investigation about this incident. I wanted to know why that happened. I was really lucky that letting go of chakra unintentionally covered my face enough that not everyone knows that it was me who intervened there. But I'm pretty sure that most people who may have anything to do with Hero Association or government have already guessed it or are sure that it was me. This may be a problem in future, but I can't do anything about it, atleast not right now.
My investigation revealed it was an attack. From none other than my target itself, MLA. Reason, they couldn't digest the fact that a 'quirkless' woman could hold such status. She had the power and authority over the lives of people with quirks.
She is capable enough to make the whole Hero Association rely on her. She's capable to make the government change their decisions to some extent.
This was like a challenge to their belief of Quirk Supremacy. An anomaly that can stand against intellect boosting quirk holders and still win in most of the comparisons without having a quirk of her own. According to them, she must be removed.
I wanted to just go to their base and rip them apart. But I can't just rush into something without knowing anything about it. I wasn't that much of a lost cause yet.
Although I am fairly certain of my seals ability and strength in defending me, but they need preparations beforehand.
My barrier can handle such huge impact only because of the layers I put in there. And those take a huge amount of time to make, not to mention integrating them into one barrier.
The outer most layer is made of [ Armor of Denial ]. Anything within one meter from the barrier, their quirk will stop working as long as they stay in that range.
Let's say if someone with a quirk gives him super speed and strength. If he punches, the moment he comes within the range, his quirk will stop giving it any more momentum than it already has. And if it's an emitter quirk, then it will vanish before it even touches the barrier. Unless the speed of attack is close or higher than 3 times the speed of sound, no emitter quirks are getting to even touch the barrier.
Now, to deal with the punch that's already rushing in, the second outer layer barrier is made of multiple hexagonal parts right behind them is soft layer of wall made of chakra that absorbs some of the shock and impact from the hexagonal parts.
The left over shockwaves is then redirected in to opposite side of the barrier from the impacted side and expels the force through vibrations. That's the purpose of final layer.
But the problem is, as overpowered as this barrier is, it takes me almost 7 months to make. I do have it on me and I'm trying to make more for others, but as I said, it takes time a lot of it. The fastest I could do was 5 months. If not for Shadow Clones, this would have been a real pain.
How do I deal with MLA? That's a question bothering me the most right now. I am still waiting for the information on them, but it's not that easy.
In all honesty, I can just go there trap them inside the barrier and make [ Quirk Suppression Field ] inside of it. Then make huge amount of mini shuriken with chakra and let them run rampant inside the barrier till no one survives. Full Rimuru Style! But that will make me a threat in people's eyes.
I may not care about it much, but if they fear me, they'll hate me. If they hate me, they'll try to get rid of me. Some of them will try to control me. This may, at some point, end up involving those I care about. I am still a human. I can't save them forever. One mistake is all it'll take for me to lose them. So I'm not letting it happen that easily.
My current plan is infiltrating them, gather all the information I need and then pull a full on massacre on them.
[ Narrator's POV ]
With this incomplete plan in mind, Haruki started planning and training for what's about to come.
He created a wood clone and had it transform into someone with black hair, red iris and deep facial lines. He named it as Itachi Uchiha. As for why he did that? He has no idea of it. It was just an urge he felt from the inside.
Normally the clones that Haruki makes are tasked ones with no real ability to think. Once their assigned task is finished they disappear after a few minutes of task completion. But these two were different, they had the ability to think. This was, as Haruki categorised them, an advance level clones.
The Clone Itachi then went into underground fighting rings. A carefully selected one at that. The one that Giran often comes to. Giran, one of the most famous brokers among villains. This was the kind of man who could help him get into MLA.
Here, Itachi showed his prowess. Immense strength, speed and flexibility. Ending every fight with opponent getting brutally mauled by him.
He was bound to get attention from many people. For people there, such a fighter is like a walking millions.
He was approached by many to which he showed his displeasure, openly. That escalated as he wanted to. He got into such fights multiple times.
Apparently getting tired of dealing with this morons for a few thousands, he approached Giran saying that he got info from others that he may be able to get him into some gang that will be better than staying here.
All this took almost 5 months. This much was enough for Giran to see what you've been through. Although he was suspicious of his sudden appearance in the un, but it wasn't a problem as long as you're willing to pay his fees. Sure Giran took his time in digging information about Itachi and here, information network set up by Haruki came to play. What Giran got was forged information about Itachi Uchiha. That got him identity clearance.
Itachi had to pay a little extra for a request that the group he wanted to join must have some solid conviction or motivation to drive, unlike this place. Otherwise he'll be going from one hell to another. That was a little suspicious but reasonable enough to ignore it.
He got two options after half a month's end from the day he paid for his additional request. First, League of Villains, second, Meta Liberation Army.
Two of his enemy groups served in front him to choose. He obviously chose what he came for, MLA.
And that's how Itachi Uchiha became a part of MLA. Where he'll be creating a legend among the villains.
This will be the recreation of the legend from another world. The Legend of Itachi Uchiha II.
