Tristan shifted on their bed before abruptly opening his eyes and turned to see Malia just waking up.
The both of them went downstairs and with every step they took, they could feel the air shifting with tension.
They finally came down and a look at the person there made them sigh in relief.
"Grandma, don't scare us like that." Tristan said with a sigh as he went forward and hugged Satomi.
Malia on the other hand was less than pleased with how their morning was ruined by Satomi's dramatic entrance. "Did you really have to do that? It's a Sunday for crying out loud." She whined and made her way to the kitchen to brew tea.
She wasn't a touchy feely kind of person, well the same with Tristan but she didn't go out of her way to hug anyone. Not even Allison, less her grandmother figure and Alpha.
"Still as crass as ever, aren't you little one? I see Tristan has been too accommodating of your… less than pleasing character." Satomi lightly said and sat on the dining chair and waited for the tea Malia was brewing.
Tristan only had a small embarrassed smile on his face which Satomi easily noticed, the sight of it warming her heart at the changes the boy was already undergoing.
Malia scoffed as she heard what Satomi said about her. "As if he could. Those are the reasons he loves me after all."
The focus of their banter could do nothing but just sip his tea in silence as the two of them exchanged backs and forth.
"So why are you here this early, grandma? Without any notice to boot." Tristan cut into their conversation as he brought back the reason for Satomi's unannounced visit into focus.
Satomi nodded at his words and placed her cup on top of the serviette before focusing her attention on the two of them, mostly Tristan whose changes she easily recognized.
"You've changed. Both of you. Tell me what happened." Her serious tone told them that she wouldn't entertain any lies, not that they could tell one and get away with it in her presence.
"Well for starters, we killed an Alpha." Malia instantly dropped the highlight of all their recent activities.
"…"
"…"
Tristan looked at her with a deadpan while Satomi looked at her with slight surprise which didn't go unnoticed by Tristan.
"You knew?"
Satomi sighed and shook her head slowly. "I knew you wouldn't have left the Alpha alone due to Tristan's tunneled vision when he smells blood but I never expected that you would have had a hand in Peter's death."
"You knew?" The both of them shouted in shock which prompted a laugh out of Satomi but she waved off their concerns.
"No, I didn't. At least not until yesterday." She brought her hands together and looked at the both of them but this time they could both feel her concern towards them and the silent reprimand she was holding off on.
Being the one most attuned to feeling emotions, Tristan's head fell low in regret as he realized just how much Satomi must have been worried for the both of them.
Seeing how they both reacted, Malia reached her hand towards Malia and drew her close before turning to Tristan and addressing him. "I tracked the bloodlust you all were emitting into the forest but by the time I got there only the remains of your fight were left imprinted on the empty scene. What clued me in were your scents and blood that was scattered around the whole place. By the time I finally managed to track the Alpha down amidst the trail of dead bodies he left, I found myself back in the Hale house with Derek in the middle of dead Hunters."
She looked at the both of them and gauged their reactions before continuing. "He killed Kate Argent, Gerard's daughter." Seeing how little they reacted, she let out a sigh, already aware that they knew of what had transpired and she was just glad that they decided to refrain from participating.
"So it was Derek who told you about Peter being the Alpha?" Tristan asked.
"Yes, he did." She simply said before picking up her cup and taking another drink from it after which she just continued staring at the content as she swirled the cup in her hand. "And you drank Peter's blood, didn't you Tristan?"
Tristan let out a tired sigh and slacked his shoulders in favor of reclining deeper into the chair. "I guess there's a reason you never allowed me to drink your blood, huh?"
Satomi looked at both of them and warmth bloomed in her heart. They were together the first time she met them years ago and they were still as close, more close even, than they were when she first knew them.
Each of their past was shrouded in secrets but she had long stopped caring about their origin. All that mattered to her was that they were her precious children.
"I had my doubts but it wasn't only for that sole reason."
She looked at the two of them and asked, "What do you know about Vampires?"
°°°°°°°
[Allison Argent POV]
All it took to turn her life for the worst was only a week. A short week where she not only survived the attack of an Alpha at the start and had to learn about the other side of the world, but also lost her aunt at the end of it in a vendetta feud that she had no idea of.
She had cried her eyes out to the point that she fainted after her father had told her of the news. The only thing her father had told her was that it was the Alpha that had done it.
The house that she had once thought of as her safe haven became a cage that restricted her movement to the point that she couldn't even grieved properly with the influx of Hunters that came and went every passing day.
It also didn't matter to her when her father had informed her that her grandfather was coming for the burial that was going to be held in a few weeks after the school formal.
That was the only saving grace she had. She was happy that she could still attend school without her parents fussing much about the Alpha being out there.
Everything seemed to have calmed down after that night, as if both her family and the Alpha had a tacit agreement that no other hunt should be held. Well her father did go out on many occasions but the result was always the same. No single animal attacks, or even the sighting of a wild one, was reported in Beacon Hills after the night Kate died.
"I'm leaving." Allison said in a low tone, not caring if anyone heard her and got in her car before driving to school.
It took her a few minutes to get to Beacon Hills High where she once again had to be subjected to the looks and stare of pity she got from a handful of the student populace.
She walked absent-mindedly through the halls, not answering to any of the calls of her name by her classmates.
She didn't know where she was going, only leaving her legs to tread through any familiar steps and bring her to a destination of solace.
-!!
Her deep murky thoughts were broken when she suddenly felt a strong grip on her arms and before she could react she was pulled into an empty classroom only to find a pair of arms tightly wrapped around her body.
Just by the scent she could already tell who it was – Malia.
This simple action of her best friend put the first genuine smile on her face ever since Kate died. As far as she could remember, Malia hated hugs or any expressive show of sentiment and now here she was being wrapped in one of the warmest hugs she's ever been subjected to.
She felt Malia move a little and the next second she felt another hand holding her and that was the moment everything came out.
She cried in their arms without stopping, complaining and cursing and pouring out all the grievances her heart couldn't fully pour out when she was at home.
Malia and Tristan only said one word, "We're sorry," and just stood there, silently comforting her until she cried all the remaining tears she had kept deep inside.
For whatever reasons they lied, at this moment none of that mattered. No Argents, no Hunters, no Alpha or betas or any secluded supernatural community – all that remained in this moment was a heartbroken girl being comforted in the arms of two people she dearly loved who were not her family. In fact they were very far from it.
"Thank you." She said in a tiny voice after she stopped crying but still held them close so as not to lose the abundance of warmth she was receiving, even Tristan's always cold body felt very warm at this moment.
"Don't worry, princess. Take all the time you want. Tristan and I are not going anywhere anytime soon unless you want us to." Malia said softly.
"Mhm, don't leave. I want to stay like this for a while." Allison said and snuggled deeper into their embrace.
"Take all the time you want." Her smile couldn't help but grow a tad bit bigger as she heard Tristan's words.

Huff huff.
A deer could be found lying flat on the coarse ground with one of its sides bleeding from four slash wounds.
Its eyes shook with primal fear as it let out its last dying whines, fighting against its inevitable death as much as it futilely could to win against its survival instincts, but alas death was a cruel mistress to all.
Its eyes gradually lost its final glimmer of life but before its consciousness faded, the silhouette of a man appeared in its vision and it finally understood that there was no way it could have survived.
"This still feels weird no matter how many times I go through it." Tristan said with a slight grimace on his face as he was bombarded with the feelings the deer experienced in his last moments.
"This is quickly proving to be annoying." He complained as he picked up the deer and flung it over his body. His abilities had all been heightened to a plateau he had once been far from and that reflected in the way his strength grew.
Other than the basic increase in all of his apparent physical abilities, his not so apparent ones were the ones that really got some interesting evolution.
First of all was that he was now able to secrete venom from his fangs anytime he wanted and all it'll take was a bite from him to bring any prey progressively closer to death's doors. While he still hadn't been able to test its effectiveness against other supernaturals, he knew instinctively that not everyone could survive it, supernatural included.
The other thing was that he could now easily track someone with their raw emotions; that coupled with all of his other senses made it impossibly hard for any prey to escape him once they entered his sights.
He chuckled as he remembered how pouty Malia became when she found out that his already frightening speed not only increased, but his senses had completely eclipsed hers by a large margin. She could no longer compete with him in any area anymore and that had fouled her mood a great deal.
Another thing that was noteworthy was how deep his connection with the night had gotten. It was a metaphysical phenomenon but he felt as if the night was actually beckoning to him to come forward and he was just a step from achieving that and seeing what the primal darkness had to offer.
With the deer over his shoulder, his feet slightly left the ground and with it he had traveled a great distance.
The first few days after his change had been quite hectic for him as his thirst had been messed up and he would randomly suffer from its hunger. It made him ever more thankful that he had someone like Malia by his side. Someone who understood him without him having a need to explain.
It's been two weeks since they killed the Alpha and not one word had been heard from Derek and in those two weeks, a few things had changed that weren't Tristan.
First of all was that Allison finally started coming over and he was ashamed to say he didn't have it in him to turn her away, not when she looked that pitiful.
And the second was that he suspected she already knew about them being supernaturals.
Reading emotions was a very hard thing to do and he was still having problems doing so with animals so it wasn't surprising that reading and understanding a human's emotion was very hard for him as he had nothing to base it off on.
For example, it was easy to know when something or someone is angry but understanding why they were angry and what they were angry at was impossibly hard to do if they were not focusing on it. It was the same with Allison.
He had known she was suspicious and somewhat knowledgeable of their supernatural status but figuring out why had taken him quite some time.
Though none of that stopped her from frequently coming over so he just kept silent about it, mostly because he was sure she had yet to tell anyone about them.
"Damn, I need to cut and dress this before she comes over." Tristan said as he could see their house approaching quickly with how fast he was moving.
Thankfully for Allison, her parents allowed her time to hangout with her friends, which were just Tristan and Malia, and she made sure that that was time well spent.
Dropping the deer quite a distance away from the house, Tristan went inside to get his tools before spending the next hour skinning and dressing the deer. Since there was no way he and Malia could finish all the meat with how frequent his hunting has been lately, Tristan started selling most of the meat for some good bucks.
….
Five people were seated in the living room watching a movie while cuddled up together, their mouths munching on snacks as they shared some good laughs and critiques as the movie went on.
Brett and Lori had come over to catch the movie when Allison was also there and since this was the first time meeting any of Tristan's and Malia's 'family', she postponed her time going home.
Malia sat in the middle with Lori and Brett by her side while Tristan sat in between Malia and Allison as the two used him as some sort of pillow.
Well Malia outright used him as a pillow while Allison, try as she might, wasn't so subtle with her intentions, not that she had a chance at hiding them when Tristan could read her like an open book, not that she was aware of it.
"That had got to be one of the lamest and yet comedic vampire movies I've ever seen." Malia guffawed as the minutes finally wrapped up and the credits started rolling up.
"Right? I mean come on, centuries old vampires can't be that stupid, can they?" Allison said with a laugh of her own as she shifted a little to gain a better spot as she leaned against Tristan's arm.
Not missing a chance to tease Tristan, Lori jumped into the conversation. "What's it with ancient vampires and trying to enslave the world? Don't they know how to use their time for more productive reasons? At least the werewolves were able to get it right."
They all chuckled, four of them aware of the running joke while the last one remained oblivious to the deeper meaning of the conversation.
They kept laughing as they revisited the funny moments of the movie they watched until Allison saw the time.
"Shit! I'm gonna be late." She said as she got up and checked her phone, and like she expected there were 3 missed calls from her dad.
"Come on, I'll walk you out to your car." Tristan said and withdrew himself from Malia's clutches, ignoring the cute pouty frown on her face.
As they both walked slowly towards her car, Allison started small talks with Tristan. "Brett and Lori are both nice. How come I haven't met them all this time?"
"Because you only recently started coming over."
She laughed at that and poked him with her elbows in reproach. "And whose fault is that?"
"Guilty as charged." Tristan said and turned to Allison who was looking at him with a somewhat genuine smile. 'Somewhat' as in what she was feeling sometimes opposed what she was showing. "Anything wrong?"
Allison bit her lips in consideration of whether to voice what she was thinking as it could come across as ungrateful, but she was also feeling a bit insecure about it. "It's just that you changed, and I-"
She couldn't finish her words as Tristan interjected. "You were thinking whether my overly considerate and friendly reaction towards you is just because Kate died?"
Allison hung her head down in shame but she couldn't deny that she really wanted to know. She doesn't know how she will feel after hearing what he had to say but she wanted to hear it.
"It's partly because of that but I think that's natural sympathy. Another, probably the most important, is that you are my friend, and a cherished one at that." He said casually before shaking his head as he caught the direction of her thoughts. "You think too much, Allison. Besides, I also changed too."
They were already at the car and Allison was about to get in when she remembered something and asked. "I remember you and Malia once asking me what I'd do if you were werewolves; why werewolves specifically?"
Tristan smiled in amusement but answered, making everything less ambiguous but still under their flimsy of ignorance. "Well, it's because werewolves are kind of cool and unlike vampires, they are peaceful guys in most of the stories you'll read."
"Not the ones I've read though." She said with an edge Tristan couldn't quite place his finger on.
"Then you must have been reading a horror book." He joked, something that used to be rare for him to do but he finally accepted that he was changing and not just because of an Alpha's blood. He really was changing. "Goodnight Allison."
"Bye Tristan."
