"Lucian! They are all safe. We have to leave..."

Nate waved his hand and shouted, calling out to Lucian who was still busy trying hard not to get engulfed. This was the longest his emotions had turned up without the beast in him reacting.

Somehow he felt disappointed. The part of him that could end this damn beast was not acting out, and he felt so weak. Did that mean he was nothing without his beast?

He felt like he was only moving around with just half of him. For the first time, he felt anxious about losing that part of himself. He had always thought he never liked it, but he just realized he never hated it. It was him, and no one hated themselves no matter what they were.
