Chapter 226: Getting Back Up

Arthur had felt pain before… Countless times before. In fact, he knew a voluminous amount of variations of pain. Now that his memories were returning faster, he could even discern the reason for his insanely high pain tolerance.

Days spent in the ice-torture chamber, being cut, having his bones broken, his sternum bashed, his head slammed against a wall… All of it resounded deep within him.

He was even well-acquainted with the metallic butt of a flame lance striking his temple… as well as the resonant metallic song that followed.

His memories told him a lot…

And while not all of them had returned to him, this simple aspect was one of the few things he could properly explain.

But this… this was new.

This pain came with an additional consequence:

Death.

The creature causing him this pain was trying to kill him… unlike all the countless other times he was subjected to gruesome amounts of pain.
