Chapter 14: A Vampire in a University 1

Paul was very careful to hide his identity, he chose the business administration course in the evening, there weren't many people in the evening and Paul even made up a story that he had a large scar on his face and had to cover half of it with a mask.

No one would think that it was a lie, after all, who would invent that they had an ugly scar on their face just to not show their face because they were too handsome, Paul always wore a hoodie and a black mask that he bought.

In addition, Paul always sat in the back and corner of the classrooms, so he didn't even have to pretend to be breathing much because few paid attention to him, since Paul had great vision and hearing, sitting in the back of the room would make no difference to him.

After a few days of classes, Paul realized that it was a great idea to wear the mask and pretend to have an ugly scar on his face after all with the vampire charm some women looked at him and Paul even heard them say that his eyes were beautiful and the black mask on him was charming.

With Paul studying in the evening, he could attend all the classes, after a few weeks the other students stopped paying attention to Paul when they saw that he was antisocial besides having a scar on his face.

Paul soon realized that vampires were different from humans, their attention was not diverted and he could fully concentrate on the classes without getting bored, so Paul could easily learn things and realized that he had satisfaction in learning things.

After a semester at the university, Paul began to attract attention for being the best student in the business administration course, but since he was known for being antisocial he could still be at peace.

So Paul was no longer bored, he could concentrate on studying at the university, at home he would play instruments, read, and spend time with Irina, for a vampire who didn't sleep, Paul had to have many things to do to not get bored.

After a year at university in 1986, Paul finally learned something new that took him 11 years as a vampire to discover. He was curious to know what it was like to eat human food after becoming a vampire.

As Paul had always lived with vampires and never had to interact with humans, he never had to pretend to eat to appear normal. In university, many students went through all their classes without eating anything.

Paul didn't feel hungry for any type of blood and only drank animal blood because he didn't want to drink human blood. He remembered seeing Edward eating human food to prove to Bella that vampires could do it without any problem.

So Paul decided to try it out of boredom. He went to the cafeteria and bought a piece of pizza to make sure he wouldn't have a problem. After buying the pizza, Paul realized he could smell the food normally without feeling sick as he had felt several times before.

He went to an isolated place to take off his mask and prepared himself in case he felt like vomiting. Then, Paul took a small bite of pizza and chewed it slowly. After all these years, Paul hadn't gone to the bathroom, so he had to make sure to chew the food well to eliminate it from his body later.

When Paul ate the food, he was surprised. He could taste the pizza just like when he was human. It was the same taste, and he only felt the taste better because his palate was better.

So Paul couldn't resist and ate the entire slice of pizza. He didn't forget to chew many times to avoid surprises later. Paul thought a little and felt that other vampires shouldn't be like him, or else they would still try to eat even if they had to vomit later.

Paul wanted to buy more food than he had eaten in the last 11 years, but he managed to control himself and started paying attention to what would happen to the pizza he had just eaten.

Paul focused and could see that he still seemed to have a digestive system. It was different from humans, but Paul had read that vampires did not have a digestive system. He saw that everything in his body was moved by his venom, which was different from the blood that functioned for humans.

After waiting for a few minutes, which was also different from humans, Paul saw that the food he ate had reached his stomach. The food arrived in his stomach, which also had acid for digestion like humans had.

But Paul soon realized that this acid in his body was vampire venom and was much more aggressive than the acid in a regular person's stomach. The food arrived in this acid and simply dissolved.

It didn't turn into vitamins and nutrients, and Paul didn't feel like vomiting. The food he ate simply disappeared. Paul soon realized that this was another gift that God had given him in his transformation into a vampire.

Paul definitely liked this gift. Being a vampire had several disadvantages, and that was why Edward felt cursed and hesitated so much to turn Bella. They always felt thirsty for human blood.

Vampires could not sleep, could not eat food, and so could not experience one of life's greatest pleasures. Vampires could not go out in the sun in public. Everyone they knew when they were human would die, and they would be alone.

Paul was different. Because of God's gifts, he did not feel thirsty for blood. Everyone he knew as a human had died, he did not care about not going out in the sun, and Paul never liked being forced to sleep. Now he discovered that he could eat whatever he wanted and not have to worry about getting fat or going to the bathroom later.

If other vampires discovered the gifts that Paul had, they would kill him out of envy. What Paul wanted most now was to avoid dying and enjoy a good immortal life, and maybe have a companion that he loved as he loved his wife in his past life.

Of course, Paul did not have high expectations about this. He knew that the Cullen family of vampires were lucky thanks to the author, and most vampires could not find companions. After all, it could be any human in the world.

So Paul was okay with staying with Irina if she wanted to keep being with him. After all, Paul knew that he would kill the companion she wanted to be with. If Laurent were a good person, Paul could help him, but Laurent still tried to kill Bella even after being warned several times and causing the war. So Paul could not risk Irina's life like that.
