Chapter 288: Chapter 288: Doomsday Virus

Doomsday could naturally feel something unusual happening inside his body. His power seemed to have found an exit, as it was instantly left inside him.

Even Doomsday, who knew no fear, couldn't help but panic at this moment.

He went crazy and started scratching at his own chest, but no matter what he did, he couldn't open his own skin.

With the full activation of energy absorption, a surging wave of energy flowed continuously from Doomsday's body into Jack's.

Doomsday was very strong, and Jack had never seen anything like the amount of energy that was in his body.

However, there was something strange about it.

Doomsday was the one who destroyed ancient Krypton, but even though he had a lot of power, it didn't seem like it was enough to destroy an entire empire.

But Jack didn't have time to think over these matters because, at this moment...

He was having a blast.

Even though Doomsday didn't look like much, he had an incredible amount of power.

It was like a poor person dying of thirst in the desert being suddenly thrown into water, or a tired office worker falling into bed after a sleepless night, or a long-held prisoner being let out and meeting a poor girl in need on the street...

Let's skip the last one.

As a Kryptonian, Jack quickly absorbed and fused Doomsday's power. The process happened so quickly that Jack didn't even have time to fully enjoy it.

Suddenly, he realized it was already over.

Jack used all his strength to break free from Doomsday's body when he felt like he wasn't getting any more energy.

At this moment, Doomsday was in a pitiful condition.

Jack had drained him of all his energy, so he turned into a stone statue. Even though he had a tough face, he still looked afraid and unwilling to die like that.

Did he really die just like that?

Jack was somewhat surprised. He had expected Doomsday to die after absorbing his power, but he never imagined it would end so quickly.

He moved forward and carefully looked at what was left.

After a while, Doomsday still showed no signs of regeneration, and he couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. It seemed that he truly was dead.

"Hmm?"

Just then, Jack's sharp eyes caught up on something that wasn't right.

He put his hand on his chest and looked straight ahead. He was terrified to find small dark red dots stuck to his skin.

They were about the size of hair strands, but they stuck to his body and wouldn't come off.

What's more, these dots were digging into his body.

"What the heck is this?"

Jack quickly checked all over and saw that it was covered with these small red dots that were all digging into him.

He watched helplessly as they penetrated his skin.

In the battle between him and Doomsday in this mindspace, the area was now filled with these red particles.

They floated in the vacuum, looking like dust in the vast universe. However, Jack had a strong feeling that, even though they seemed random, they were actually moving toward him.

Suddenly, Jack remembered the power of Doomsday that he had seen online.

One of them left a deep impression on him.

Doomsday Virus.

It was an ability that only appeared when Doomsday reached his complete form. Using these spores, Doomsday could absorb the energy and life force of the beings around him to evolve himself.

Of course, if that were all, it would be fine. The most important thing was that the Doomsday spores had another important function.

After the main body of Doomsday was destroyed, the spores would infect other organisms and take over their bodies and powers. In the end, they would eat the host and bring back Doomsday.

Jack could absorb energy, but the problem was that spores were not just energy; he couldn't absorb them at all.

A lot of Doomsday spores got inside his body and tried to take over his cells.

Luckily, Jack's cells were unusually tough, and it wasn't so easy for the spores to successfully parasitize them.

The spores wanted to invade the cells, while the cells and the body's defense mechanisms were trying their best to eliminate the Doomsday spores and drive them out of this body.

And so, after the battle between Jack and Doomsday came to an end, a cellular-level tug-of-war began, setting the stage for a fight.

Jack could feel the state of his body.

Overall, it seemed to be a fifty-fifty situation between the two sides.

As long as he could maintain this state and return to the Marvel universe, he would be able to get rid of these disgusting "parasites."

But things don't always go as planned.

He suddenly opened his mouth and forcefully sucked in.

Instantly, the Doomsday spores spread around him and were directly swallowed into his stomach.

With the sudden addition of so many Doomsday spores, their fighting power increased several times.

They came at Jack like an uncontrollable force and quickly took over almost half of his body.

All of this was displayed from the outside.

Jack's body grew quickly, and spikes of bone came out of his joints. Once soft and smooth, his skin now had big spots of dark green and black that looked like stones.

Most importantly, his head began to evolve in the path of Doomsday's destruction.

"Ah!"

Jack forcefully covered his head as fragments of memories suddenly appeared in his mind.

At a certain moment, he thought he was in a growing tank and saw strange things that looked like scientists walking around behind the glass.

And less than ten minutes later, he saw himself sitting on a throne. Below him was a huge open area. Dozens of groups of soldiers kneeled down in front of him and swore to be loyal to him no matter what.

In this way, his consciousness jumped back and forth between these two memories.

For a moment, he was a test subject in an incubator, and the next, he was the most powerful emperor in history, ruling over the entire universe.

Just as he was on the verge of a mental breakdown from these two life experiences, the fragments of memories finally changed.

The person who was being experimented on finally broke out of the lab and started a huge, bloody war. His opponent turned out to be the great emperor from another memory.

The two extraordinary life experiences unexpectedly happened at the same time.

After that, the experimental subject and the ruler fought a war that destroyed countless galaxies and civilizations and even broke through the boundaries of the universe.

In the end, the war was over, and the emperor won.

He won in a way that was terrible and costly, but he won in the end.

He killed the experimental subject.

But he didn't really win because he became parasitized by the dead experimental subject.

He couldn't stop this process, and Jack could clearly feel the despair and helplessness inside him. His body began to transform, taking on the appearance of the experimental subject.

Before his last trace of sanity disappeared, the emperor did one final thing.

He sealed himself.

He fell into an eternal sleep, from which it was almost impossible to wake him up.

He didn't wake up until thousands of years later and felt someone with the same presence as the emperor.

Jack was deeply shocked and also understood certain things.

But before he could think too much, a spatial rift appeared in front of him and instantly sucked him in.

The time had come.
