Chapter 156: Fading Memories

Samuel's house is not far away and Cassey easily got the local carriage from the corner.

She made sure that it was full of passengers and they did not look like thugs from last night before entering in.

She held two of her trunks in the middle when she noticed many men and women staring at her with a frown.

It was not because of her poor clothes or her tear stained face but the address she gave to the coachman.

A girl like her was going to the duke's palace. She did not even look like a maid.

Feeling their intense gaze, Cassey closed her eyes. Regretting that she did not contact the knights who were looking for her.

As the carriage stopped around the corner, she had to hold her trunks and walk towards the entrance. The trunks were heavy enough, but she had learnt to take the weight with her and with the increased speed, it only took her half an hour when she stood in front of the entrance.
